Link Dump!: Just haven't seen one in forever, so I figured I'd start one with an old favorite. Take cover...Boom Goes The Dynamite!
So, by "March," you actually meant "April," right? Right? : I finally mailed out my SpoFi Swap CDs Thursday.
Shameless, Out-Of-Left-Field, Self-Linking Link Dump!: I'm the first one in. "Extreme Sports," maybe?
Super Bowl Link Dump! : Come on in, make yourself comfortable, and bet the house on the G-Men!
Happy Thanksgiving, Fellow SpoFites!: A sincere wish for you, your families and loved ones: may you all find unlimited reasons to be happy this Thanksgiving, and remember all the things that are great and stupendous and beautiful about this world, and none of the ugly stuff that so often takes center stage.
(N)O.J.: Is it remarkable restraint on the part of SpoFites 'round the world, or some other mysterious force that's kept the recent O.J. Simpson arrest off the Front Page? Thoughts? Hypotheses? Conspiracy theories? Love to hear 'em.
Lindros Over/Under Winners: Apparently, hockey season ended and nobody told me. Or did they get locked out again? Congrats to skydivemom and goddam, and congratulations to Eric Lindros, who continues to receive a steady paycheck.
Be True to Your School!: While I was digging for some more info on this FPP, I found this on the NCCA site. You can search by university, and find out how many NCAA titles your school has won, broken down by gender and sport. How many have you got?
Is this a viable FPP?: Or just another in what could be a never-ending series of rather predictable preseason-ranking-articles? Somebody could just find a league-wide scouting report and post that, so we don't have to go through this will all 32 teams. Or is that just being nitpicky?
Lindros Over/Under: : Reading this discussion got me thinking...how long will it be before Lindros' next campaign is ended by a concussion-causing sneeze, a melonballing accident, or a bathtub fall? Do you feel lucky, punk? Well...do ya?
April 18, 2006...Best Day Ever?: What a great bunch of FPPs today. Really a pleasure to drop in and luxuriate in all that SportsFilter can be. Kudos justgary, rcade, lilnemo, rocket88, and dusted for some excellent posts that were so Anti-Yahoo it made the world seem like a better place. Not that the other posts today were bad, but those five really did the trick for me. Viva SportsFilter!
Did I miss the Hall Monitor elections?: There's a high probability that I'm being snarky here, but it annoys me no end that a guy who's only been here a month wants us to mind our manners for the sake of his womenfolk, who apparently just can't handle some of the world's more unsavory descriptive terms. It chaps me, because one of the reasons I enjoy the site is its freewheeling nature, which, yeah, does include occasionally salty language. Is there an age disclaimer on this site, or are we, as we should be, merely trusting members to have enough freakin' common sense that they pick and choose what to read to impressionable youths? Thoughts?
