I am confused to. Maybe some moderating has occurred in the mean time.

Terrapin's DeadHeads are in. I *HOPE* to make the draft, but Saturday mornings are usually farm chore days for me.

I find SpoFi to be a glorified RSS aggregator without the new comment count. I can't participate if I don't know where I left off last because there is (as The Police said) "too much information running through my brain".
posted by terrapin at 08:43 AM on July 01
I just want the recent comments feature back so participation in the site as a community is easier. Without them I can't find the time to check every thread in which I have an interest to see if there have been additions.

Just so I don't forget... I owe skydivemom an apology for making fun of her pick of Michigan State. I clearly know nothing compared to her. Now I am pulling for State in the tournament so skydivemom wins this contest.

Sorry. I am under the weather and found out I couldn't sit upright for as long as I had hoped.
As for campfirenow, one should be able to log in as a guest, but to get an account one needs to contact DrJohnEvans

I just noticed that the wiki is only accessible from the homepage and not any of the (many) navigations in the locker room.
posted by terrapin at 07:14 PM on March 18
I even had the text smaller (using Firefox), but at readable font sizes I can't see anything to the right below the ads.
Increasing the font size makes the posted text legible, but the text field HUGE and the box bleeds BEYOND the background green!
posted by terrapin at 11:50 AM on March 12
There's a lot of real estate to the left of this form (side nav on rest of site) that probably could be reclaimed. Or change the css level for the ads?
I know one can block ads, but that's not the point. :)
posted by terrapin at 11:47 AM on March 12
Completely different entities. There is a link in the opening paragraph of the wiki where the creation of SpoFi is mentioned. Personally I think that is enough.
Thanks for the linky love, rcade. Now I hope folks will take the time to add to the wiki. For the record, people can simply type http://sportsfilter.info to get to the wiki as well.

I imagine that rcade has a lot on his plate as it is, and The New Sportsfilter seems to be mostly roll-your-own, so delegating is probably nearly impossible at this point.
I also think rcade has done a great job of patching the site back together to look like the old one. There are a few "must have" features that would be nice to see such as the new comments, but all-in-all I am happier than I was a few months ago. I seem to visit the actual site rather than just the feed. I'm still interested in seeing a wiki implemented, but that's probably because I did a lot of reading learning to use it and trying to make it look nice. It is certainly not a "must have" .... like ... say... MY INTERVIEW!!! *ahem* sorry... where was I? Oh, yes... I think rcade's doing a bang-up job, but there's work to be done ... so quit moonlighting as a bloody MLS reporter.
posted by terrapin at 03:34 PM on March 01
I think a footer link would be fine too.

I only recall you asking people for suggestions but never a response. Sorry if I missed it, but without new comments it's hard to keep up ;)

chiming in here to say I miss the updated comment count and I am still waiting for wiki love... or some official statement from rcade as to why he constantly ignores it.

Yet another thing that is effed up about MLS. They play in the summer while most other leagues are on break. I often hear the excuse is "who would want to play in Chicago in December?" I don't follow MLS so i had no clue that DC United was the closest team to a person in Florida. It seems that the solution now is simple. Close down the Chicao Fire (and all the other northern teams) and play in the south during the normal footie season.
*ahem*

Apple has a video for one solution.
This article spells out the other methods.

on edit, still no issues

ok, looks like I have to actually make a change for the rest of the line breaks to return after an edit.
posted by terrapin at 03:32 PM on February 03
And when will the wiki link be in place? When my interview returns, I presume.
Carry on.
(I am noticing on edit that there are actual empty spaces that are there that I didn't type. & nbsp; sorts of spaces)
posted by terrapin at 03:32 PM on February 03
What gary said. If I edit my comments the line breaks disappear. Then if I re-edit them it seems to fix it, but not enough data yet. Let me go yell at dviking about Big Ben some more and I'll let you know.... I'm kidding.... kinda.

BoKnows: There was conducted on christmas eve 2005, and rcade found the post wc02 made, but the actual link to the interview just loops back to the same thread.

Happy birthday everyone.

My bad. I thought the Hoser's picks were Locker Room posts.
posted by terrapin at 08:13 PM on January 21
I am still seeing locker room feeds in the main feed, right? I checked and it looked to me that the two were combined.
posted by terrapin at 06:04 PM on January 21
boredom_08: It looks like rcade currently has all the threads (main and locker room) in one feed. There is a link to that feed in the footer, but it is here too.
My guess is that until rcade is done with the overhaul, there will be only one feed.

I don't recall what used to be allowed. I just found it annoying :)
posted by terrapin at 10:02 AM on January 21
rcade, I was just about to ask if there was a way to auto-strip the hard breaks that are always part of beaverboard's comments (I assume he composes them in Word and then pastes), but when I returned to the most recent occurrence I saw they were gone.. and you had commented immediately after. So did you do that by hand or is it coded now?
posted by terrapin at 09:27 AM on January 21
BoKnows, just start a new one. Probably get everyone's attention easier anyway when it pops up in their RSS feed!
However, that being said, I think locker room posts should have a longer open lifespan than the main site.

I just read that article, before I saw you linked it here. Being one of the Gripers in Chief, I want to say how much I appreciate the effort...
Also, I have kept my mouth shut for a day or so now, but it seems that my actual interview is still MIA. The link to it is there, but not the interview.
In all seriousness, no hurry.
Now, get back to work!

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_recent_comments() in /www/html/sportsfilter.php on line 641
However, using the back button I saw that each comment had, in fact, made it through.
Just a heads-up.

Should SportsFilter Think of the Children?
chiming in to say I agree with what bperk said: "I like moderating that keeps the discussions civil and mostly intelligent, but not censored".
In fact, rcade, since this has come up as an issue, I would suggest adding a checkbox on the signup page making someone state for the record they are over 13. I know that kerrycindy is the parent with the account, but I think since we aren't PG-13 it is probably a good idea to state that somewhere, so parents can make the decision for themselves without having to comb the archives, etc.
