I've only been around as a member for about a year, but I've figured one thing out : sometimes less is more. I notice a lot of newer users feel like they need to rush to get fpp's out there and build up comments like crazy in an attempt to "join the crowd". I think the bulk of the fpp's and comments by some irritate others because they may not be to the standards that once were established here. Personally, when I see a fpp or comment from someone like Chico, YYM, Dyams, or DJE, just to name a few, I think " this dude's got something to say." They don't over do it just for the sake commenting, so their comments usually have a little more thought and passion behind them. I may even disagree with what they are saying, but I can appreciate their opinion more knowing that if they feel the urge to post it, they have probably put some thought into it.

Here's a thought: As part of the sign up process, they are prompted to explain why they would like to become a member in 1 paragraph. They could be accepted or denied based on their spelling, basic grammer, and how many lol's and omg's they use in that 1 paragraph.

SCORING For each bowl game, points will be earned based on whether you select the winner of the game against the spread, and what confidence point value you’ve assigned to that game. Points for a bowl game are only earned if you select the winner of the game. When applying the spread, the winning pick is the team that has the most points after applying the spread. In some cases this will mean the winning pick is not the team that wins the game. The spread value is subtracted from the points scored by the Favorite team. That value is compared to the points scored by the underdog to determine the winner. In the event a bowl game is cancelled, no points will be awarded for that game. There are two forms of points in this Contest: Correct Pick Points. Points are earned by correctly selecting the winner of the game against the spread. Correct selections earn five (5) points per bowl game for the twenty (20) non-Bowl Championship Series Bowl games and fifteen (15) points per BCS bowl game. The BCS bowl games include the following bowls: Rose Tostitos Fiesta FedEx Orange Allstate Sugar BCS Championship Game Confidence Points. Before the bowl game begins you have the option of applying a confidence value between 1 and 25 to each bowl game. Individual confidence values may not be applied to more than one bowl game. For example, if you are most confident in the outcome of the Rose bowl you would want to apply 25 points to this bowl game. If you select the outcome of the Rose bowl correctly you will earn 25 points. Confidence points are only earned if you select the outcome of the bowl correctly.

Alabama covered the spread, -3.5. OSU actually won the game, but only by 3. You're picking against the spread in this pool, not the actual winner in every case.
