I don't know, didn't happen to me.
I just wanted to say, go Rene Bourque tonight - hat trick with a short handed goal, powerplay goal, and gamewinning goal.
I hate the Flames but with his help I WILL CRUSH SPOFIPUCKATHONV.
(Or I will trade him for a goalie)

So all those "tons of waivers" are just people who drafted higher than me therefore they're lower on the (non existent) waiver list, which then makes sense why they are doing better...they have better players!
posted by rumple at 03:27 PM on October 12
What are "waivers"? I am dropping like a stone and see everyone ahead of me has tons of "waivers". I know what they are in real life, but the league summary says "no waivers" which is cool, not the point, the point is I have no idea how to play this frickin' game!!!

You know, I just read the thread, and don't think it is reasonable to support the coach in that case at all, regardless. It is the school jumping into religion, which is a no no, it is also the school jumping into the parent-child relationship, which you would think would be a bigger no-no if you were inclined to be a conservative. But then I thought tselson made a funny and to the point post and if he would stick around then maybe we would all learn something because, you know, it is awfully easy to lump together all religious conservatives into a monolithic block of devolutionary ignorance - easy, yet inaccurate and good to have all sides heard. So keep it civil, but keep it real, would be my suggestion.
And as to the question, that was a fine post and amen to this being a place where sports can be discussed intelligently and a JJ says, from the POV of anyone's seat.

My new macbook is so freakin' sensitive that halfway through I accidentally took Cheechoo when I had 2 RW already. Despite drafting 19th I am happy with a front line of The Twins and Kane, and my D feels strong, especially if Salo stays healthy. So overall, even though this is my first time doing this I don't see any way I can lose.
I had to leave halfway and then just now tried the add drop thing which was new and seemed fine so I should have a full team now. Thanks skydivedad!

I havent done one of these before. I just ranked some players. I know I can only be there from the beginning for 30 minutes or so then have to leave for the day. Will it kick into automatic mode when I leave? Is it a chat room like thing? I guess I will find out -- if I mess up just give me ALL CANUCKS RAMPANT

It should be very interesting to see if England folds up as Langer predicted in his memo. I suspect their middle folds again, except Collinson who will battle much harder this time. But the Australian bats will overwhelm.

Hi -- thanks for the updates. A couple of things:
-- I have no history now. Was this going to transferred over? I don't mind a clean slate, mind you!
-- I found it so much easier to read the site when comments were distinguished by alternating coloured background. Right now, the comments seem to just flow together
-- It won't keep me logged on -- it'll save my password in the little box but previously I was never logged out.....
OS X 10.5, firefox, if it matters....
Thanks again...

Hmmm. I am going to be in a remote pup tent until the end of June and miss most of the finals (which look to be excellent hockey, dammit). So l won't be able to thrill in victory or agonize in defeat until it doesn't matter anymore, anyway. The media loves visuals, so signs held up outside stadiums on game day might be a start. Inside the game - very unlikely to be shown on TV. A web site that collates all these stories with some work to googlebomb it to a high NFL-injury ranking would be something. Maybe writing to senior star players asking them for their thoughts. I agree writing to the owners is a good idea, though they probably have PR hacks just for this job. Maybe a few would get through. They'll be quick to blame the players union, I suspect. This actually became a big issue in the NHL when Eric Lindros claimed the Flyers' physicians were either incompetent or venal in treating his concussions. So a player-led objection might be the best thing to try to foment. Should this thread be linked to the Front Page threads? Not sure of etiquette.

Stastny coming in to Colorado with the legendary name "Stastny" on his back must have been a lot of pressure too. And, he plays centre, a much more demanding position.

And next year's Calder goes to .... Jannik Hansen! Quite possibly if I was building a team from scratch I would look at Staal first as well. I mean, he's 18 or something still, he has a complete game and obvious leadership skills.

Hart: Crosby. Luongo runner up. Adams: Alain Vigneault. Totally re-invented a Canucks team that was widely expected to miss the playoffs for third straight year. It wasn't all Luongo. Norris: Lidstrom. Guys like Barret Jackman and jay Bouwmeester deserve consideration just for having excellent +/- playing big minutes for shitty teams. Lady Byng: Probably Datsyuk. Kariya is always a good choice. Jay Pandolfo, with only 8 penalty minutes in a full season as a checking forward should be considered -- except this award always goes to a decent player who is also "gentlemanly" Vezina: Luongo. Brodeur great as well. Tiebreaker is how Luongo backstops the Canucks league-leading, and frequently called on, PK unit. Calder: I'd go Stastny. Probably will be Malkin though. Selke: Mike Fisher. Could be Pandolfo though.
