The long awaited Yahoo Roto Baseball League: First, please declare who your team is in this thread after you register. If a team goes "unclaimed" it will be removed a week before the draft to allow for someone else to take the spot. This is to ensure that actual SpoFites, and not lurkers or deadbeats, are taking up room. Plus it's a good "Get to know who is who" deal too. That seem fair?

Back to NY: Al Leiter, 39, had a 3-7 record with a 6.64 ERA in 2005. He walked 60 batters in 80 innings, while giving up 88 hits before he was DFAd by the Marlins. And now, he's a Yankee. I know they needed something but I don't know if it was this guy.

Johnson's latest pitch: He's open to a trade.: After a week that saw a lot of speculation and denial, as well as a reported argument between he and a teammate, Randy Johnson confirms he would be open to a trade but has not been asked to waive his no-trade clause by the DBacks, yet. During the media session, he debunked rumors that he'd prefer to go to Anaheim because he has a home nearby. His condition is that the team he'd be traded to would have to have "[good] chance to win. That's the only way." Later when asked about a trip to Boston's North End, Johnson commented, "I was really torn between the Boston clam chowder and the Manhattan clam chowder".

'Stros trade Hildago (+$4m) to the Mets for Weathers: Mets get a big bat and the Astros rid themselves of someone who had "fallen out of favor" with Manager Jimy Williams. Any Houston fans out there want to give us the inside dirt on why Jimy doesn't like Hildalgo?

Be Alert: Foul Balls and Bats Hurt.: Courts rule against woman badly hurt by a foul ball hit into the stands -- she cannot sue the ballclub. By endorsing the ticket and attending the game, you waive your right to sue the club or hold the team or MLB liable for injury. That, along with so much more (including giving the club rights to the use of your image while you are in the park), is written in very fine print on the back of your baseball ticket, but very few people bother to read it or even know about it.

"Old White Guy Makes Racially Insensitive Remark" : (thanks jugwine) Larry Bird wants more white guys in basketball because that's who are watching sports in America: White dudes. But Bird qualifies his statement with, "But it is a black man's game, and it will be forever. I mean, the greatest athletes in the world are African-American." Also, Bird felt it the white man wasn't good enough to guard him...
