Leyritz Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI, Manslaughter.

I tried to post this earlier, and I agree totally with aerotive. He was out drinking to celebrate his birthday and then smashes into an innocent person who was minding her own business, going home after a long evening at work. Now two kids have lost their mother and I hope he loses his freedom for a long time. I know about the presumption of innocence and the fact that he is not convicted, YET, but this guy really screwed up. Here's a link to the official police report. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/1228072leyritz1.html?link=rssfeed

For The Love of Sport: Thursday Night Football

Thursday football BLOWS!!! It's bad for the teams involved (3days rest), it's a money making scam for the league and the nfl network and cable/satellite (which one gets the $ is the only question), and it sets a real scary pattern for every other sports league to follow (and you just know they're all watching, evaluating the fan response and total income.) I'd rather be AT the game if I had to pay for it. Just my 2 cents, and I know someone will punch swiss cheese holes in my thought pattern, but I still think it stinks.

Mark Cuban Applies to Buy Chicago Cubs

I'm a life-long "Southside" Cubs fan, and I hope Cuban gets jettisoned from this quest. I root against the Mavs BECAUSE of Cuban and his juvenile courtside antics. Cody is right on the money, and I wouldn't want the umps making "I'm in charge here, not you!"-type of calls because Marky can't keep his rump in his seat or keep his trap shut. I don't really care how much dough this guy spends, he still irks me to no end!

I wish somebody would light Dusty Baker on fire, or just fire him!

Danny Almonte, Now 19, Gets Married to 30-Year-Old Woman

The difference between a 40 year old marrying a 51 year old and a 19 year old-30 year old match-up is HUGE. The leaps and bounds in maturity from 14 to 15 or 18 to 19 can be enormous. An 11 year age difference is much more significant for him at his age than for her. Methinks there might be a little NYSE speculation going on here, like getting in on the ground floor for Microsoft of Google!

World-record bass boated in California

Giant fish must live. Kudos to the angler for having the heart to resist killing a truly awe-inspiring creature. May she live to breed again!

White Sox GM slams Thomas

Yeah, cycling down, or as I would put it "whining" down! The guy has been a cancer in the clubhouse for YEARS! He was in about 21 games last year, so it just goes to show how little the team needed him. Maybe he can join Sammy Sosa in the "Chicago can do without 'em" club. Good bye you vile, gutless wonder!

Game's Third team Upstaged Steelers, Seahawks

I just wish the NFL would issue "report cards" on the refs and 'fes up and say "Yeah, so-and-so really blew that call in last week's game." But just like that old country music standard, I guess it's 'Stand by Your Man'!!! Seattle did blow many opportunities, but the zebras didn't help matters any. Congrats to the Black&Gold.

Emmitt Smith:

I just read the entire text and I find it hard to believe it took that long to mention Pete Rose. Thanks Brogrim for that last comment. Like it or not, off-field antics influence the committee's choices and Irvin won't be hearing Canton's call for a long while, if ever.

Steelers Won Super Bowl XL

I'm a Bears fan, and I didn't bitch about the officiating in their playoff loss. The stingy defense that was present all year didn't show up in the post-season, just like Seattle's high-octane offense didn't show up in the Super Bowl.

U. of Ill. Appeals to Keep Indian Mascot

Hey Smithee, thanks for the list of schools. I can't wait for the International Society of Trolls to come out and file a lawsuit against Trinity Christian! Maybe the Vatican will rail against the use of the names Angels, Cardinals, Friars, Deacons, Preachers, Prophets and Saints. Damn, I can't even call anyone a Wahoo anymore. Oh well, Bush is on. Gotta go listen to what this Devil-Demon is up to.

U. of Ill. Appeals to Keep Indian Mascot

Hey Grum, I guess you don't recognize sarcasm when you read it, but there are just so many more important, life-altering issues out there that could be resolved if humanity just spent HALF of the time and energy that is spent on this argument. Anyway, PETA is filing a lawsuit to eliminate any and all animals' names from being used as team names/mascots. That just goes to show you the lengths that zealots will go to impose their version of righteousness upon us all.

U. of Ill. Appeals to Keep Indian Mascot

As I said originally, this is sooo far overboard. I guess this is why the Minnesota Vikings obliterated the Nordic profile at the 50 and replaced it with a slanted V. Maybe USC and Michigan State better rethink thier names too, seeing as we wouldn't want to offend the modern-day Greeks or Turks. Hey, what's a "Tar-Heel" anyway? Sounds like it could possibly be a slam on the Blackfoot Indians. ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Twelve wacky moments in Super Bowl history.

I can't remember if it was the Super Bowl or a playoff game a few years ago, but the drunken Joe Namath interview with the female reporter where he uttered the now infamous "Can I kiss you?" was truly the wackiest for me!
