Florida Linebacker Tried to Eye-Gouge Opponent

Thank heavens he didn't do lunch with Deion Sanders or something similarly heinous deserving of a long suspension.

Isn't that the truth. This guy tries to blind someone and he sits out 30 min of football. What an absolute joke Urban Meyer and the UF are.

What do you gain, as a coach, by punishing Spikes more?

You gain the satisfaction of keeping some of your integrity after that lame speech about.....we love and support SPIKES.....not the guy who could have been PERMANENTLY damaged from an ignorant human being.

Not that I have any respect or like for the NCAA, but if they let this punishment stand, and keep a guy out for an entire year for LYING, not stealing, cheating, using drugs,or trying to take cheapshots it will truly be a shame.

I will be surprised if he amounts to much as a pro QB

He probably won't be good as a pro....he is only 6'4", smart as they come, accurate, makes all of the throws, and makes good decisions on and off the field. Hes probably going to really suck.

BYU Upsets Oklahoma After Sam Bradford Injures Shoulder

Looks like OSUTUBA just registered his/her sportsfilter account just to take a shot at OU. I live in Oklahoma and year in year out OSU fans gather at the beginning of the year to tell the world how this is their year to win a few games and go to a BCS bowl game. Then at the end of the year when they go do another mediocre bowl or sometimes NO bowl game at all, they are quiet for a few months until august rolls around and then repeat cycle. That was a nice win yesterday against the Dawgs, but they are about 7 nat'l title, 6 Big XII titles, about 32 conference championships and 4 heisman winners behind their big brother in the great state of Oklahoma.

The only reason for me throwing all of that out there is to make me feel better when OSU fans try and throw cheap shots (no pun intended oregon) out there when they can.

OU will manage to scrape by this year and probably lose another to Texas and play in an at-large bowl game in Glendale or a Cotton bowl game, but losing Bradford isn't going to make them a 4-5 loss team like OSUTuba would like to think. Landry Jones isn't the first redshirt freshman to take the field for OU--Sam Bradford was once a redshirt freshman, he threw for 36 touchdowns that year. So unless the line can't figure a way to improve, which i think this coaching staff will be able to figure this thing out all will not be lost. There isn't a lack of talent here thats for sure, just inexperience and lack of focus. If OSUtuba can come in here and claim OU will lose to Tulsa and Miami, i'm sure tuba thinks ou will drop to OSU and Texas, thats gives OU a 5 loss year even before they get to a bowl game. I will come back in december and close my sportsfilter account. maybe not, but i'll consider it :)

He didn't get sacked rcade, Bradford was hit after he released the ball. The score was 7-7 when Bradford left. I'm sure OU wins the game if Bradford stays in, but this was probably the worst offensive line play OU has seen in a long while.

I think it would rcade. Only because of him going crazy after the punch. I think if it was just the punch or or only him going after fans he might of had a chance to play again this year. But on opening night on ESPN didn't help his cause at all.

This might be in bad taste, but I'm glad he had the balls to hit the guy. That guy was being a dick and deserved it. Personally, I wouldn't have hit the guy. Its not that I wouldn't have the balls to do it, its just I understand there are consequences to acting like a punk thug. i lernt that in 3rd grade in skule

Him not being ready has nothing to do with him not playing in the NBA this year. If he didn't think he was ready he wouldn't of went through the entire draft process. If Ricky would of been picked 2 or 3, you better believe he would be over here. His buyout is too much for him being picked in the draft where he was picked. Besides how happy do you think the would have been playing for the Timberwolves? He knew it could have been a career killer going to the Timberwolves. Just too many things added up for him to make the trip. In my opinion he can stay over there.

I think they were on the 40 yard line, the opposing special teams might have been looking for it if this were a regular season game. But it was well executed thanks to bad pursuit by the would be tacklers.

Besides Oklahoma, how many Big 12 teams has florida played here lately? They may have held Oklahoma's offense to 14 points, but if I remember correctly OU held them to 24 when Florida was racking up 40 points plus on SEC teams. Point is, thats not a good indicator when a team stops another team in the big 12 and you assume that they could stop the rest of the other teams in the big 12.

Kind of ironic that the poster boy for trouble in the NFL, Pacman Jones, has never been convicted. Just a thought.

How many have been convicted of a felony at your place of business, probably not too many. But i guess thats what you get when your business won't hire convicts, they are trying to protect their product. In the NFL, the players are the product.

Whats kind of funny about this whole deal is that last year he went to a New York team that probably in the end over achieved, even though Favre stunk it up down the stretch. This year he could of played for a solid team that could have made some noise. But oh well, we will never know.

Harrell to Saskatchewan

Harrell did have great stats, but stats aren't going to get you drafted. Just ask Jason White and Chase Daniel. I think it came down to not enough arm strength and size. It doesn't help that he comes from an offense that produces a "system" qb. Leach qb's produce stats year in year out. He'll probaby plug in another qb this year and put up 50 points in a game or two. Personally I was kinda shocked he didn't get drafted. He did get a chance with a NFL team this year, I can't remember which team it was, but I knew the team wouldn't keep him because they had about 4 or 5 QB. If Sam Bradford doesn't have some success in the NFL, Oklahoma might get the same rep as Tech does with their quarterbacks. The question is, will 5 star quarterbacks want to keep going to these schools that do win games but don't produce winning NFL qb's?

Romo does endorsement spoof

Tony's stats for his first 3 years speak for itself. He has a higher QB rating average for those 3 years than Eli, Peyton, McNabb, Rivers. He had 4 fewer touchdowns than Peyton, but more than the QB's mentioned above for the same 3 years. Excluding Brady, and Ben Roethlesberger none of these guys have had great playoffs in the first few years. Even Eli's superbowl year he had 23 TDs to 20 INT. Eventually Romo is gonna have to start winning some late year games, but we should be having this argument probably 2-3 years from now if he doesn't at least get to a NFC championship game.

I love it when this guy is pretty much a professional on the sidelines, locker rooms, media, off field and all you hear is "This guy has no one to blame, its his locker room now, he needs to be more passionate, he buddy's up with his TE" Give me a break, actually give this guy a break he doesn't throw sideline fits, throw teammates under the bus, he has fire. Just look how fired up he was in the playoff game against the Giants.

Pretty much reading the comments on here everyone pretty much sees it the way I do, except a couple of comments that really doesn't have much reality to it.

This doesn't really pertain to the video, but the media are the ones responsible for making non-issues an issue and scrolling it across their "breaking news crawlers"

BTW, I did research the stats above, I'm sure his first three years look a lot better than most 3 year QB's, I just didn't have the time or want to , to look up more QB's.

Brock Lesnar batters Frank Mir

I agree with Athiest on the bisping knockout. I realize it was probably unnecessary, but you can't expect a fighter to be able to go nuts and in a milli-second just stop. Its just not gonna happen, and this happens all of the time. Look when Rampage knocked out Wanderlei, he hit him about 2 or 3 times after he was out cold and I can't remember it being discussed. Its just part of MMA and will be a part of it. I'm not saying it wasn't brutal, i'm just saying it probably can't be controlled. The ref doesn't have enough time to beat a fighter to an unconscious(spell?) fighter.

What can be controlled is post fight, rubbing it into your beaten opponents face like Lesnar did. To tell you the truth, i like lesnar, not so much now, but i like seeing dominance in the cage. I just don't think there is room for that kind of shit. I've been defending MMA before his post fight antics by saying MMA has stayed away from that kind of crap. You can kind of tell by reading comments in here that, naturally, the Lesnar fans back his trash talking. But you can still be a fan and still disagree with him acting that way. Yes, Mir was a punk the months leading up to the fight, you just don't want to see a guy who stumbles when trying to get up and having this guy yelling in your face. I understand he was wound up after avenging his only loss in his short career, but i'm sure he could have respected the sport, his fans, Dana and his wife a little more.

Brock Lesnar with a few months of training is the best heavyweigth fighter? For the credibility of martial arts, this dude needs to be soundly beat.

I'm not sure if you consider wrestling a form of martial arts, athiest, but lesnar was a NCAA champ and has years of wrestling experience and he also has years of mixed martial arts training. He just has the size and strength to handle pretty much anyone right now. I believed he had a really good game plan going into the fight. It might not have been the funnest to watch but it was effective because of his size. He has showed in the UFC he can stand up with anyone and beat them on the ground. Don't forget he dropped Mir, Herring, and legendary Couture with a single punch.

MMA the new boxing?

How many weight classes and different title belts does boxing have. I think that really has boxing watered down. Super fly feather weight? I tend to agree with those that describe boxing as a science, for those that aren't that familiar with MMA like to call it WWE. If you look into it a little more, I'm sure you would be suprised at the technical aspect of MMA. In MMA there are so many areas that you have to be great in to be a great fighter. If you concentrate too much on your stand up your gonna get beat as soon as your back hits the mat(Cheick Kongo). If you only rely on ground game, you will be predictable and your take downs are gonna get stuffed. This article is just explaining how far MMA has come, its still a young sport. Zuffa is doing a good job on getting it recognized globally.

This article is way different than the ESPN article i read last night about this. This guy makes is sound like as soon as he got dunked on, LBJ had the tapes taken away. ESPN reports the dunk happened early and the tape was taken at the end. This article says video taping of the event was allowed, ESPN has a statement from nike saying there was no taping allowed. Seems like the writer from CBS didn't look into this thing too much, unless of course ESPN is completely wrong. And maybe you guys are right about the commercial and they didn't want anything out on youtube prior to the commercial, but then i don't know why they would wait until after the game to take the tape. If it wasn't allowed Nike should have told the guys to turn off the cameras until the game was over.

New Football League Adopts Rules NFL Should Consider

I think the intentional grounding rule, in my opinion is a terrible rule to throw away. Seems to me that will compromise the integrity of football. Anytime that you are about to get hit, just throw it at the defender's feet. It would be a downer for a defender to beat the offensive line and have the QB throw it out of bounds. Kind of like goal tending in basketball, just have Shaq or whoever else just stand under the rim and block incoming shots. Other than that rule I like most of them. Especially the OT rule. The replay rule sounds just like NCAA rules. Even though the replay officials in college football suck!!

SI Writer: LeBron Snubbed Magic to Send 'Clear Message'

I haven't had time to read all of the post on this one, but I can remember when the Giants upset the Pats in the Super Bowl, Belicheck stormed in the locker room before the clock even ticked to zero. I can't remember that getting as much attention as L. James. Baseball players never shake hands like we used to do when I grew up. I don't think it is a big deal personally.

But, when another player of Kobe's caliber gets a complete bye for acting like an ass, the hypocrisy is a little too much for me.

I'm pretty sure bo fan is right it doesn't matter. NCAA doesn't have the same rule as NFL about pushing the receiver out of bounds. But graymatter is correct about judgement calls, such as forward progress can not be reviewed. NCAA has showed a pretty pathetic display the past two years with this whole review. I think it is great if used correctly. Kind of funny how NCAA is so particuliar with money and basketball players can't participate in a game that is not with their team over a certain mile radius. But they sure let the review go by the waistside. But o'well NCAA cannot do wrong. A few of the plays mentioned in the article makes be sick!! The whole game needs to be reviewed I do not know if that is going to happen? As a matter of fact every single play is reviewed upstairs. If the play looks questionable they inform the refs to stop play to take further review.
