Casualties of the NFL:

Ineffective union representation and free agency opened the door for the parasitic cankers known as sports agents to enter and rape the league. This “show me the money” attitude has debased player loyalty to any one particular team. But what else could players do when the union is in the owners pocket but move around every three of four years? As soon as an injury sidelines a player, besides the team, he becomes a liability to both the agent and the union. I say sports agents need to step-up with the insurance policies during negotiations of players contracts and be forced to take some of the responsibility, as well as broadcast networks and any of the rest that get rich putting saddles on players backs for the ride to the bank. I do believe this can be easily fixed if the exploiters greed was added into equation before the paydays. This shameless apathy really pisses me off, greedy bastards. Let the league migrate to pay per view and see what happens. I know one thing, I will not be buying a thirty dollar cap or180 buck jersey from the NFL. Hell, I’ll go to the flee market and get that swag for 5 and 10 dollars and send the difference to Ditkas bunch. Rookies need to know what they are getting into before any ink is on paper and this article is a good place to start their education.

Barry Bonds indicted on perjury, obstruction charges

BB is a cheater that got caught cheating and lying about it to a bunch of other lying cheaters. He was given a free pass to tell the truth like the others did (JG e.g.) bb chose to play stupid, actually I don’t think he or feds could have played it any other way. One thing for sure, he or the witch-hunters will never be accused of taking “intelligence enhancing drugs” unless truth pays more than lying and cheating. (Add something about pots and black kettles here.) For the obvious betrayal of honest american trust strike his name from the record books if the intention is use bb a an example. But complicity of the commish to plant butts in seats is to be faulted. If the feds wanted to do something productive about professional sports doping, knowing the pros cannot or will not police themselves, they would have done it by now. It is always about the Benjamins.

However, if the bushwhackers run off all the new talent everybody loses. I believe Nascar will get it together they seem to be a very shrewed bunch.

U.S. Open to use instant replay for disputed calls

This, no doubt, will take some of the drama out of the game. McEnroe-ish outburst will be minimized. But I see potential for abuse, such as a winded player asking for a closer look, breaking up extended volleys and such. It will be interesting so see how this plays out this season.

Bode's a bust

My opinion of Bode has some what softened since his first event. The media had influenced my expectations. Bode has always had the reputation of pushing it to the edge and past, precariously skiing just on the verge of being out of control. Never holding anything back. Bodes style is all or nothing and for that I respect and greatly admire. No, I'm not going to slam Bode today. Best of luck and give 'em Hell Bode.

More Falls And Skating Scrapes For NBC's Olympics

It was just too painful watch. Just now on the evening news, NBC gave the results of the events planned for this evening, no use watching now. The other night, I found myself watching just to see witch gate Bode missed. Programing in the day I could have watched or tivo in realtime. DOWNHILL SPIRAL: The case behind Bode Miller's fifth-place finish.

As an American I am disappointed with Bode Miller. I am sure he is a likeable guy, can hold his booze, and his dinner. But he is representing me, the USA, my country. The word is watching and he is blowing this opportunity to shine. It seems Bode's heart is not in it. Issues with conditioning and extra pounds should have been resolved way, way before the starting gate.(makes me wonder is he's got Drew Rosenhouse on speed-dial) Could be the pressure, but then again this is not his first rodeo. But when I start to feel ashamed that this is the best America has to offer to the world, then he needs shrink into obscurity.

Most of us have bitched about the officiating all season. Bad calls have been the only thing consistent about the season. Until the refs are full time nothing is going to change. I like what coach Stoops said when asked about being robbed of a win because of a bad call against Texas tech: "That call didn't matter, our team should not have been in that position in the first place." NFL Network To Air 8 Regular Season Games

Once again cooperate greed has chose to victimize the consumer, whom they claim to covet. To the average joe broadcast network has always been the least expensive, most accessible form of entertainment in our society. Because of the accessibility of sporting events many professional participants have become household names with broad recognition universally. Even to those with limited knowledge of the sport . I realize this trend of pay-per-view and premium channels is the future . But from my own point of view this piecemeal approach may just backfire. I could imagine a number of things happening : 1) Although unlikely at first, fans could just loose interest. Growing up in the 60s, 70s and 80s I was a big boxing fan and could tell anyone who would listen who the fighters and the top contenders were in all weight categories and as well as which organization they fought for. Today I can name on one hand all the current boxers I know. 2) Limiting access to games and players would limit marketability. Fans vote with their dollars. If I don’t know how good the athlete is because I never get to see them play I’m sure as hell not going to buy his jersey or his shoes or anything else he endorses. And I better not see commercial advertisement on a block of time I paid for! 3) Networks will have to fill the sports vacuum left by this migration. For the first time another league might become a viable reality. Could soccer or rugby fill the slot? I know after a generation passes our youth will be interested in what they watch on a regular basis. I just know as a Dallas fan I feel betrayed. I have watched the Cowboys play every thanksgiving for as long as I can remember. The nfl network is not available here in my local market. The bastards.

Missing the tackle on Reality

That is so true. I might add a players level of intelligence is directly proportional to what their major was in collage. What makes a pro think they can be successful in business if they have only studied underwater basket weaving? The pros who try and fail at acting grows every year. As for broadcasting Shannon Sharp surprised me and of course there are others that are just awful Micheal Irvine for one.

I don't think the officiating has been that great all season. Most of the problems are with receivers and dbs, receptions and interference calls being the majority of the bad calls.
