Wow, talk about a boring read. I swear we need some inside info on some of you people. Baseball hasnt been hot for a while. Hip hop dominates not just black culture but American culture. Hiphop= football and basketball. Thats why blacks play those sports more. More contact, more skill, more speed. Full scholly's help but only an idiot still thinks that coaches dont work out financial aid packages for every kid he wants. You guys are so funny. Let me break it down.....Baseball is not what's hot in the streets, period.

Y'all are funny. Being black I like to think that black kids are smart enough to know that if you are going to be playing a full contact sport you wear a helmet that fits, a face mask, and a mouthpiece to go along with the pads...especially when what you are playing on is hard as a brick. Yes economics has something to do with it, but do you see football players missing their teeth?

Eh, I like free speech. We should let people express themselves so we truly know them. I am not homophobic, because I dont fear gays. Do I respect their lifestyle, no. Do I have any friends that are gay, no. However I am not into persecuting, which can only be done through actions not words by the way, so in the regard I dont bother them. You are never going to be able to tell a whole segment of the population that they have to accept something that they deem incredibly immoral. I assure I dont think that I am morally sound all the time but I tend to not fight nature. If being gay werent a decision thing, like being a thief or crack head, I think there wouldnt still be all this fuss. But all of this revolves around a choice. We dont have to respect, like, or embrace your own personal choice. And you cant even compare people not liking gays to people not liking blacks. A) you are born black you dont choose it. B) gays werent enslaved then actively discriminated against. I'd say they havent been through anything of note, as a group, that makes their cause so special.

Obviously someone doesnt know that its easier to have a layup blocked than a dunk. Thats why people do it, not just for flash. If anything the NBA should make the courts bigger and move the 3 point line out. If coaches cant keep their poor shooters from forcing 3s then thats their problem not ours.

yawn, Amaechi was garbage. I'm glad he found a way to make some money off of being gay. kudos for that. Just because one doesnt care for someone of a certain mindset doesnt mean they hate nor fear them. If its not ok for me to say being gay is wrong, then how is it ok to tell me your opinion of my opinion?

How is Tommy Chang panning out? Seriously guys how often do the QBs from the little schools get enough respect to warrant leaving early? Personally a guy would have to be a freak athletically, Big Ben, for me to draft him at a reasonable slot. If piling up monster numbers against pathetic teams was all it took to be a high draft pick then Texas Tech would be sending guys in the first round every year. Not a Colt fan.

Here we go again. I'm not even going to diss soccer, its a very difficult sport to play. However I must say that I dont think Beckham can inspire kids like you guys think he can. I think most of America wont even look at him as one of their own. He doesnt even sound like an American anymore with that prissy accent and that isnt going to sit well in the south to say the least. I wish him luck as he isnt taking any food out of my mouth. And if I were a defender I would break him the first chance I got just for being so crazy paid. Anyway I think an atmosphere of excitement starts from the lower levels and works its way up. If you cant get people to watch highschool soccer or college soccer then it has no future. Needless to say the big 3 dont have that problem.

Women are catching up to men in air rifles. WTF??? Last time I checked you dont have to be an athelete to shoot a gun or throw a dart. As for basketball, of course you get better when you practice against players that are worse matchups for yourself, so when you get to a good matchup then you can dominate. No different than a frosh and a senior. The frosh should have a bad match up against a senior, but when he plays another frosh he should do even better than he did before. I say let the women stop playing with the men. I am tired of hearing how good they are. If college teams need to take reguar students off the yard to practice then obviously there are some serious gaps in talent.

Dont get mad at men for not paying women sports any attention. If I am not mistaken women make up slightly more than half of the population, the onus should be on them to support their sisters. We shouldnt be guilted into watching an effort inferior to what our brothers are capable of accomplishing. And dont compare Dan Marino to these broads, he has won plenty of games. Neither of them has won a race/tournament. That argument was pathetic.

I'm glad they finally give the All Star guard on Shaq's team some credit for once. Like he is weaving in and out of 5 people at will, that guy has half the SKILL of Dwade. If Dwade only took shots from 3 feet away I'm sure his career shooting percentage would look like fatboy's too.

But all you see is them doing a little dance or beating their chest a little bit and you get all riled up. Like you know these guys or they owe you something. Those guys dont have a legit chance to win the title anyway. You guys are crying about teams that just want a chance to get blown out by someone better than them on natl tv. You cant compare this to the BCS because the problem there is that a lot of contenders arent even in the picture. In the NCAA everyone in the top25 has at least a shot to win the title. In the BCS games of the past only the top 2 get a shot, see the difference?

How about good ol JJ, AP player of the year my arse, getting harassed by freshman all night long. In four years of playing UNC he has broken 20 points once. That was the game in Feb when we let 5'11'' Wes Miller guard him a lot. Ginyard and Green got in his jock and ruined his night. Bobby Frasor is my boy and what about Quentin Thomas coming into the game and looking smooth as silk the whole time. The idiot that said there was no talent at the game is well.. an idiot. The best players in the world were there with the exception of a few shuns. Mark Cuban is an idiot because he didnt want to give Nash some more money and a few more years. Who cares about 5 years from now when the guy was the MVP of the league once he leaves your team. Then on top of that is having an even better year without his star player. On top of that Mark lost him to a Conference foe, that is crazy. Bruce Bowen is garbage, that guy is dirty. I dont see holding a player and running under his feet after he shoots trying to get him to sprain an ankle, which he does to VC and Ray Allen constantly, good defense.

In the land of Power Forwards Elton is still not in the top 5, I think thats his problem. Bruce Bowen is the only guy I have ever heard of that holdsand grabs that much and gets rewarded for it. He has never actually been the best defensive player in the league. If other 2 guards werent asked to score they might have more energy to exert on that end of the floor. As far as sheer stopping power I would put Marion, Lebron, and Kobe ahead of him even though the list is longer than that.
posted by Drallig9399 at 10:41 AM on January 30
If Kobe gets his team to the playoffs I dont know how you cant call him the MVP. I think currently they are like 7th or something, thats saying a lot for a team that looks completely lost at times. If not for that I would say Nash is the MVP, no Amare still 11.5 assists a game. His game is mindblowing. Mark Cuban is an idiot. How can Chauncey be the MVP when the team would be hurt more with the losses of Ben, Rasheed, or Tayshaun. Detroit wins because of defense and last time I checked Chauncey doesnt shut down his man so much as channel him to meet Big Ben or one of the big guys in the paint. I would call Tayshaun their MVP before Chauncey.

I wish they would change the definition of a sport. If you dont HAVE to work out, it shouldnt be called a sport. Mainly speaking about golf on that one but Nascar too, but def not to the same degree. The NBA, NFL and NCAA's CBB and CFB will always dominate because everyone grows up with some sort of ties to them, especially if your parents went to college. College towns follow their boys well into in their pro careers. Meanwhile the college towns themselves whip themselves into a frenzy for their own games. You cant go just anywhere and find the passion of a whole city behind Nascar or Hockey. But baseball, football, and basketball seem to do it rather well, wherever they are at.

I am pissed that ESPN ran a bajillion part series talking about the National Championship teams from the past that 05 USC could beat. Obviously their defense couldnt stop more than half of those teams enough to win. They blew a 12pt lead with 5 minutes left in the game!!!!!!!! Was VY even touched in the backfield?? ESPN should have run that multi part segment last year when USC actually had a championship caliber defense. Oregon hasnt beat a ranked team all year do you think they would magically rise to the occasion? Be glad OU is crappy this year. it was good read black, thanks for the article. But I am not saying that the ACC is the best conf, the champ lost to a middle of the road team from the SEC, that argument is too easy to lose. My point was that it is very possible to be 10-1 and undeserving of a big BCS game because your biggest wins of the year are Cal and Fresno State, who themselves beat no one.
posted by Drallig9399 at 08:52 AM on December 06
What did I miss? Nothing at all, what makes the teams they played tough? I would like to think that rankings are made for a reason. Lets look at just the wins Oregon and FSU has over teams currently ranked in the top 25. FSU has 3 Oregon 0. Wow 10- 1 is very impressive. FSU can lose, they are humans after all, but atleast I can sit here and say that even with a depth chart littered with inexeperience they can still BEAT SOMEBODY. Oregon fans or whoever is on their bandwagon would be just guessing if they made the same claim.
posted by Drallig9399 at 08:21 AM on December 06
Look at their schedule. At this moment in time there is one team on they have played that is ranked, USC. FSU beat 3 teams that are nationally ranked, whereas the ducks 0. If there is anyone that is undeserving it is Oregon with their #5 ranking. How could you play through a whole conference and only play one ranked team the whole time. A) your conference is soft, UCLA isnt great at all B) your conference is too small to have a champ game and too big to play everyone, hence not playing UCLA
posted by Drallig9399 at 03:14 PM on December 05
After careful review of the Oregon schedule the ruling is that its sad to ask for a BCS bowl bid knowing that none of the opponents you defeated are currently in the top 25. No signficant wins = no BCS.
