What's bigger? Connors in '91 or Agassi today?

Will you ever not be so hypocritical? You're "expressing an honest opinion". Im "throwing a fit". I've seen you exaggerate before, but this is crazy. Its like some people are "looting" and some are "eating to survive". Stop hating man. Where does it end? I'd rather have a bunch of connors/to's/tysons/ and anybody else thats brutally honest(and sometimes and ass) rather than having 1 crybaby/sissy/bad sport/judgmental/jealous/last kid picked at kickball/non athletic failure. I think i hit a nerve with the "last kid picked at kickball reference".Thank God (i guess)for someone inventing this type of forum(to give that kid picked last somewhere to vent) jerry rice-football mark messier-hockey rcade-spo fi?

No shit, whats with the amount of gay references on this site? Whenever two people take over an Internet discussion with an argument, it always seems like foreplay to me Whenever people sit around and watch people take over an internet discussion, then chime in,it always seems like some sort of wierd plea for a threesome to me. Some people see homo-eroticism in everything they look at. Might be a symptom. You could very well be coming down with being GAY!

I was pulling for agassi. It would have been nice to see him win. I guess i dislike federer the same way i disliked M.Jordan. I'm a roddick fan.The same way i was a charles barkley fan. You think maybe oneday they can slay the giant. I just saw a stat on espn that made me respect federer even more. 24 yrs old with a record of 71-3.23-0 in the finals. thats just ridiculous. I think what charlatan was trying to say was, I never understand the antipathy when it comes to athletes like Tyson, T.O., Bonds, or guys like Connors. Who gives a shit about their attitude? Judge the way they dominate a sport and nothing else. There is so much crying about good athletes attitudes. You get these uppity/high and mighty sports writers/critics that spend every waking moment trying to find something negative about a guy who might be deemed "cocky" or "arrogant". Think about it, what would sports be like if everybody acted like tom brady/pete sampras/tim duncan. Its almost like they actually "hate" people like TO/tyson/Johnny Mac/cassius clay/charles barkley. Hey, do you actually expect everyone to act as "you think" they should?Imagine if you woke up everyday and all you saw was YOU. I guess the point is,when does discussing an event or a player go from debating their performance to personal judgment.Saying you "hate" to see a guy(or girl) win because you dont like the way they act? I felt kind of dirty rooting for connors? Do you think his kid felt dirty? Or his Parents?Sorry i didnt know Jesus Christ himself was a member here. I swear you would think that these type of people got their ass kicked by somebody in high school that looked like T.O or Connors etc..and this is their revenge. Seriously, focus on your families and your life, because trust me, There is someone out there(a coworker/your trashman/the guy who cuts your lawn/the girl at the gas station) that thinks you're an "asshole" too and you dont deserve shit in life either. Where does it end? I'd rather have a bunch of connors/to's/tysons/ and anybody else thats brutally honest(and sometimes and ass) rather than having 1 crybaby/sissy/bad sport/judgmental/jealous/last kid picked at kickball/non athletic failure.

I swear some of you "TO haters" need a woman. He doesnt have to auction shit. You dont realize how much your belly aching is just as bad as his. The ring is the teams? The ring has his number and name clown. He is on the team. Why would someone wanting a "moratorium" on TO threads read (and post)on one? Makes you wonder. I gave money to the Red Cross and took a whole bunch of items to the aid drive that was held on the grounds of the state capitol. I was all out of championship rings. So, Mr. Holier Than Thou, did I show my true colors? Right on "TERRAPIN". A lot of us have donated money or clothes for the hurricane victims in silence Unreal, "in silence". Are you 2 seeking attention for the things you've done? Why mention it? Now should we question your motives for giving? Why donate things? Why not buy all new things? Hear how that sounds? Its foolish to question anything people do that will help others. Like i said, some people's hate is down right sickening. This guy could give a kidney to a cancer patient and some of you people would say he's doing it to get on web MD's website. Cant wait to hear the crying if this guy wins a superbowl. He's doing something to help the victims of katrina, ask them how much they give a fuck where the money comes from. I could see some of you begging some of the less fortunate down on the golf coast to turn the money away that comes from this ring. Just because TO torches the secondary of your favorite team. The way you guys talk makes me think that you're exactly the type of fans like the guy who ran on the court in detroit, and got dropped by jermaine O'neal. Theres more to life than to cry about someone being a crybaby. Limited abilities? Theres your proof. Lets see, you're a niners, cowboys,or ravens fan. The best receiver in the NFL has limited abilities. Poor fellow, your team will get better. Whats next a thread calling TO the "N" word because he gave 100k to the Alzheimers foundation?

Thanks!Thats funny. I actually watched game 6 between philly/oilers (i forget the year)87 or 88 on espn classic about a month ago. It was so crazy watching people skate with the puck and not get touched/clutched/grabbed "HELD"!! The game was so much faster back then. Then along comes detroit and new jersey with this trapping/left wing lock australian rules hockey crap.Yes it was winning hockey, however you could probably win if you parked a zamboni in your net and hung a goalie mask on it. Ever year the powers that be say the calls will be made for holding/hooking.We'll have to wait and see.

If you think about it. Its a lose lose situation for him.If he does nothing, he's a greedy bastard with to much money. If he does something that will help these people that have lost everything, he's doing it for attention. Again, if anyone is related to someone with Alzheimers disease, you should check terrellowens.com for his link about the disease and the foundation he donates to. His grandmother suffers from the disease. TO has donated to many charitys well before this BS with Mcnabb. He's guilty of being a big baby sometimes, big deal. He has no drug arrests/no domestic violence/no rape claims, like many NFL players(some in the hall of fame). I havnt seen any big storys about TO and this ring. I think the only attention its getting is from us. WAIT!!! just think, if this FPP didnt exist,TO would just be auctioning the ring to help those people with no attention to himself what so ever. Are we MORE guilty by giving him the "attention" that we're not even sure he is seeking? Some people are just pure haters.I mean really think about these phrases. "I dont like the way TO helps the victims of Katrina" "He's not doing it the way "i" think he should". If some of you haters put as much effort in helping those in need as you do hating TO, the crisis would be over by now. lets end this thread with this Compare what TO is doing for the victims to what "YOU" are doing for the victims...pretty sad huh? Start a "i hate TO" thread, bash him to death. Talk about his Momma for all i care. But never judge someone for helping people in need. Skydivemom, nice thread. It caused some people to think, and it caused some to show their "true colors"

Hockey rules.

i agree with succa, i think some of us are forgetting the fact that you still have to "come into the other teams zone" to score. Face up hitting and checking the person who has the puck is "still" legal.Even if the person gets rid of the puck quickly im sure the NHL will call these hits the way a hit on an NFL QB is called (after he gets rid of the ball)he is still fair game for a split second,if the hitter was "already in progress". No matter how the "clutch/grab" rule is dealt with remember this, Speed is made null and void if there is no "room" to skate. I think a team like philly will actually be better off than most. They will plant those huge defensemen along the top of the circles during transition and they will basically stack them in front of their own goal on a penalty kill (giving them virtually 2 extra "goalies") There were 2 type of teams thru the 80's before the "clutch grab trap"era of the 90's. You had the oilers (fast small quick)and you had the Flyers(big bigger biggest)and it made for one of the best stanley cup series ever(was it 87'?). I think you will see alot of position playing and offensive players(carrying the puck)getting stood up at the top of the circles vs. getting "harassed" from behind.Which will make for even more "dump/chase" hockey then anything(with even more room to dump and chase since the goalie will be limited to playing the puck in a smaller area).Clarke (in philly)has stuck to the dump/chase for 20 years. It finally might come in handy.

Thanks for the advice Texan. You're right.I guess i got offended by someone thinking that i "turned" my point of view because it was the "politically correct" thing to do.I genuinely realized my mistake, said i was sorry, and that was it. I'm new here, but from some of the FPP's i've read in the past, even admitting to being wrong is something you dont find much of here. As far as the "feed the troll" comment. This is a sign that some of you guys who have been here longer need to seriously think about what is posted in the "locker room". Alot of these newer people see things like people being called "trolls" and saying that George michael is "gay". They take comments like these an apply them to everyone that doesnt agree with them.It seems like on every other thread there is someone being called a troll or gay just due to a disagreement. You guys that have been here longer are examples to the rest of us (whether you want to be or not) I mean pretty soon every thread on this site is going to end with "screw you, die troll, i'll spit in your face, you and george michael are gay". Even the debate on this site used to be respectable, even when people disagreed. Now i feel even worse because none of this is about Mr.Herrion...RIP.

To be honest, you should check TO's website to see what he does for the Alzheimers fund. All people have their down side, TO happens to have a bad attitude almost childish. However hes never been in the news for drug dealing/smoking weed/spousal abuse/rape, like some NFL players. He happens to be a "well publicized baby". When it comes to him giving, hes at the top of the list. TO was raised by his grandmother(who suffers from alzheimers)(meaning his parents were not around)that has an affect on some people. This is not a stunt. There are people that need help. And he is helping. How a person can be judged negatively for that is beyond me. Im sure you'll find some TO hater that can spin this into something negative. I went to high school with larry webster in MD. He got a ring coming of the bench for the ravens the year they won it.These are not 3k rings. These rings(some championship/superbowl) are worth between 15-20k (just from a jewelry aspect)which is far above the 5k warrick dunn is saying each player should donate. Im sure the people affected would be grateful.

I dont think they will find any blockage(due to him being only 23)I do think they will find some trace of performance based/or recreational drug that most likely will be deemed the "cause" of death. I hate to speculate at this time. However this guy was a "3rd stringer" who was trying to make the roster.I guess i see now why some of these guys want more money. Some of them actually do "leave it all on the field". May God Bless His Family. posted by Web_Spiner at 6:58 PM CST on August 21 Do i think he would spit in my face after seeing this?No i dont.Having the type of blockage he had at his age is and was virtually unheard of.In a previous post Texan lost in NY stated he got an ekg and it showed trouble. I received an EKG when my nerve pain specialist put me on a new nerve pain medication. It took about 6 minutes. You mean to tell me that guys over approx 260lbs or over shouldnt get a mandatory EKG when working in the extreme heat? that costs to much? Gimme a break. when i made the "drug reference" again I was referring to a stimulant period(over the counter or otherwise)Congress can insinuate drug use about athletes in general and its ok? I look in the mirror just fine. I dont think a man like thomas herrion would "spit in anyones face" you disgusting excuse for a human being.I changed my tune after i reread my own words and saw how they could be misunderstood. And again i honestly was referring to a GNC type ephedra product since there was a report of "supplements in his locker". Read before you type little man. I know one thing, I know you wouldnt "spit in my face" you ignorant ass. Maybe you might have "spit in your exgirlfriends face" and thought it was cool. Just to say such a thing really shows what type of man/woman you are. But again, this thread is about thomas herrion. not about whos face you think would be spat in.Have some respect. people make mistakes, and they realize them, then they apologize. I can only assume that a man/woman who talks about "spitting in anyones face" wouldnt know anything about that. Grow up before someone forces you to. Im assuming the john q whiteguy statement offended you.

COST COST COST. what an attitude. "fuck em, let them die"? "as long as they're entertaining me"? you cant put a fucking cost on fathers, son's,mother's,daughter's etc...lives. I bet if one of your family members passed physicals, then something like this happened in their line of work, you would have a lawsuit faster than you could say "im a narrow minded asshole". We're not talking about these type of tests for the teller at your bank or the person who rung-up your groceries at walmart. This is the fucking NFL. expensive??????? what does a human life cost ??? "we're developing a technique to measure a players core body temp to prevent heat stroke". "we've developed this machine were you put these virtual reality goggles on,and it can determine whether or not you have a concussion in 6 minutes"(so if you dont we can get you back on the field faster) concussions are fatal 3% of the time if that. yet hundreds of thousands of dollars is being spent on this technology.(to get them back on the field faster or to help save their life?) EXPENSIVE? ok maybe not an angiogram. how about the "echo test". If a person has enough blockage as to cause MI during their line of work then they damn sure should beable to develop a test that could possibly save someones life.I think we can agree that they do have the tests and the means. then why isnt it done? does john q "whiteguy" have to die before its done? EXPENSIVE? i bet the first damn thing people like you said about new orleans was, "i wonder if the cost is worth pumping all that water out". You're talking about one of the richest damn sports leagues in the world. If i go get a fucking physical from damn doctor, you can damn sure believe that artery blockage is one of the fucking things he damn sure better find if i have it.Or is the doctor trying to determine if the the strength of my left ACL is worth the contract im getting? this guy wasnt suffering from mild chest pains, he fell the fuck over dead after he performed his job.we can pretty much agree that he didnt have say 30% blockage. EXPENSIVE? i wonder what one team made from jersey sales last year. Whats your life worth? honestly? do you think its worth the cost of a any heart/cardio test at all? How many people in this country have by-pass surgery every year. Blockage is very detectable. EXPENSIVE? you people should be a fucking shamed of yourself. And so should the greedy ass fucking NFL. This thread is about a man who gave his life for a game, and he's not the first.Dont try to look cool by posting some ignorant retort and ruining this thread. Its about the unfortunate passing of a young man that probably could have been prevented. If he could join this conversation right here and now, what do you think his opinion would be? Would you have the fucking nerve to tell him that the tests that could have possibly saved his life are a bit to expensive and not rational?he would probably say, i have a couple hundred thousand dollars and top of the line insurance.I cant help but wonder if this happen to someone like say Tom brady or brett farve would there have been a fucking congressional hearing as to determine how the hell they passed a physical. You know, the fucking hearings they are having just to see if someone is "cheating" with drugs? My local damn ymca has a fucking defibrillator. the NFL cant detect enough blockage in a players arteries that could possibly stop his fucking heart during or after a damn game? think about it: putting on a pair of shoulder pads cost:your life. going to play a game cost: your life. running up and down a football field on TV cost: your life thomas herrion never getting to see his family or drive his niece around because some people think the costs to do certain tests that would have possibly saved his life are to "expensive"...priceless. Shame on you for even mentioning something like cost when someones life has been lost. EXPENSIVE? God bless thomas herrion, who PAID the ultimate price for something he loved doing and for the entertainment of others.

Coroner: 49ers' Herrion died of heart disease

God Bless Him. In the previous thread i was the first to mention a possible drug related issue with his untimely demise. However it was heart disease(something i figured they could have determined with an autopsy)Which is why i thought it could have been related more so to any type of performance enhancer(or street drug that elevates heart rate). The reason for my speculation was a selfish one. I wanted to have something to blame his death on besides his weight/size/cardio fitness or anything else having to do with heart/artery health. I've lived my entire life with a "lineman build" as they call it. (Stocky/heavy frame).I also have suffered from high cholesterol for the past 15 years.I rarely go to the drs. due to the lack of health insurance. And its a hard thing to admit, that one minute you could be doing something you love and the next minute you're gone.I wanted to have something to blame this young mans death on,besides a disease that is so hard to detect(without proper testing)(i.e mr.Herrion passing his NFL physical) I deeply regret my speculation concerning Mr. herrions death. Again i Pray Gods blessing upon his family, friends, and loved ones. I move for an immediate rally for the NFL and teams individually to begin testing for diseases this deadly. The NFL must become more heart health conscious with the size requirements/and intense physical demand put on NFL players. If the NFL would have canceled just 1 of mr.Herrion's drug tests(all of which he passed)and had him take an angiogram, maybe he'd still be with us.

Pass the plate for Peerless?

and if a multi-million dollar contract is not enough, then your a pathetic representative of the human race. Again we need perspective. What world are you living in? These guys hold out every year. The NHL just locked players out because they think the players get to much money, and the league and the owners want more of the revenue. Are they pathetic? Remember, TO is comparing the money he gets to the top 10 producers in his field. In which he is in the top 3 easy. When a hooker at the bunny ranch asks for more money, that pimp guy on HBO doesnt say "you would be a crackwhore in chester PA if it wasnt for me".She wants to be paid in the same range as the other girls at the ranch. Not in the range of the girls in the HBO special "it aint easy being a ho".Yea, the pimp guy got her off the street(somewhere she didnt want to be)but in the time being she realizes that she is still being paid like she was a crackwhore, and not like those high class broads at the "cathouse". Stop looking at it like TO is saying "compared to the school teachers in america, i aint getting paid shiot bitches".

Pass the plate for Peerless?

Nothing makes me understand TO better. If you owned a company selling something (lets say clothes) and you hired a salesman to a five year sales contract you would not expect him to call the next year and say I am not coming in till you pay me more. Plus, a company always has a right to fire an employee (pursuant to the contract) Lets try to keep our analogies a little more realistic. Whens the last time a salesperson at the gap got thier leg snapped in 2 after being horse-collared by a customer looking for an 18 husky. And if that employee did get his/her leg snapped on the job, the average american would stay out of work on disability for a dam year( and sue the company in most cases). Whens the last time a clothes salesperson dropped dead from selling shirts and ties. I know its a game and i think pro athletes are over paid. But with the risk they take to their health for our entertainment.I'm in no place to judge them for what they "ask for". Keep in mind, TO is getting nothing different then what is in the contract he signed. he (not so simply) said what a truck load of union workers say every year. "im going on strike for more money".Pay me what "i" think im worth now as opposed to last year. Plain and simple, TO is not in the top 10 paid WR's in the NFL. he has had ample time to look over his contract and feels he's under paid now. What the hell are sports franchises anyway "glorified used car salesman"? you've never felt like you were "taken advantage of" after signing the paperwork for a used car? the eagles are known for being tight with money, and as bad as TO wanted out of baltimore, he would have signed a contract requiring his left kidney.

The two of them hook up for a touchdown on their first play together, AGAIN. At least this year it was olny 64 yards not 81. Not too bad for two teammates who won't even share the same bench!! This is a totally different angle. the last thread about TO was based on him crying and acting like an ass. Also everyone was posting how fed-up they were about the topic, about eagles fans, and about the media coverage. The discussion then turned to TO must go and people were saying TO will not play for the eagles. That he couldnt exist on the eagles without talking to DM. turns out first play of the game he shows how deadly he is and how hard he is to cover one on one.I thought JoJo made a valid point, and brought some light back to the "sports" aspect of TO's worth to a ball club(instead of always highlighting the bullshit like the media does). 2 catches for 95 yards and a TD with 9 mins to go in the 2nd qrt is a monster stat no matter what receiver did it.It just happen to be a player that "experts" said wouldnt even wear his teams uniform again. Again JoJo good job on posting a topic about TO that had nothing to do with him crying/asking for money/or acting like a baby. Alot of people expected DM not to throw him the ball much,or TO to have some "suspicious drops".but that didnt happen. if it did, trust me,there would have been atleast 2 or 3 FPP's about that.but instead they put up manning/harrison full game like numbers in only one qrt.the first play of the game aspect of this thread is itself worthy of a FPP(when compared to flip-flops and body hair). Again, if you're tired of a topic, dont read the thread.(unless your motive is to argue).

But when people start crying about him crying, its a bit much. this thread was about his play and that of his QB.Compared to flip-flops and facial hair,i must say well done. Damn, the amount of hypocrisy on this site is amazing some times!!!!!! when you talk about the hypocrisy here, there are only a "select few".they stick together like 23 mexicans mowing the lawn of a 1 bedroom townhouse.(calmdown,im 1/8 and 3/14ths mexican)they summon admin at every turn. They call thier "o.g. member" friends to a thread so fast where someone has disagreed with them, that it will remind you of someone getting thier sneaker stepped on in middle school and then asking 4 friends to "watch his back" while he contemplates sucker punching the culprit in the lunch room. besides those very few admin brown-noser members, who think thier every post should grace the cover of sports illustrated, its really not that bad of a site.

you're crazy that coming from a person who keeps his toilet paper on his faucet in the tub. you're talking about a player that was in what? His 4th yr?Give me a break. was i comparing shaq to hunter? NO. You were basing hunters worth as a player on being "let go" by orlando. I simply stated they also let shaq "go". hunter was a rookie and 2nd/3rd yr player while with orlando. they could have had Zo or Ming and would have still sucked. You mention his career per,hes in his 4th or 5th yr. your killing me. hey, get his "per" stats from the playoffs. you're talking like hunter already failed in philly.I think he'll be more valuable defensively then marc jackson was. Sixers have webber and rogers, thier pf's shooting that 15 footer. they didnt need thier back up center(jackson) shooting it as well(hence letting him go for cash). Again hunter ranked 29th out of all nba players in blocks last yr in under 10 mins per game.the sixers have 1 shot blocker. Now they have 2. (3 counting deng gai)If i was billy king i would have taken hunter over jackson as well.you're acting like im saying hunter should start. Not at all I agree, he will most likely be an average player. he will also be an above average shot blocker in the sixers defensive scheme. thats my opinion. wet toilet paper is softer than dry toilet paper(fyi)thats a fact

At the risk of this becoming a "my team rocks, your team sucks thread". I must say that the eagles in fact have the best 2ndary tied with the ravens. The eagles where deemed a weak run defensive team until trotter took over in week 9 at linebacker. The eagles also gave up the 2nd fewest points in the league. So using deductive reasoning. if they were giving up the run all day, they must have been stopping something. the eagles were also 2nd in the league in sacks which is a stat that proves that nobody was open.they also blitzed thier 2ndary more than any other team scoring more sacks with players from the 2ndary. defensive backfields are judged by more than passing yards allowed per game and passing TDs allowed per game.

McNabb and T O

Hey, no disrespect intended on my part. opinions are like... everybody has one, post away. I guess i was kind of guilty of the samething(attemping to suppress someone else's opinion) I think the duo will do well this year. TO is so "hell bent" on proving himself right,he will do everything in his power to prove he deserves what he asks for. I think thats the difference between Moss and TO. While Moss will walk off before a game is over, TO will go down trying to prove he's right. Either way they both have issues that i wont judge them for. i mean, no one has died in my profession(directly related to the job)that i can remember. The guy that picks up my trash has a bad attitude(and i think he smokes weed)i hear him every time he's here complaining about something. But you know what, he gets all the trash everytime.I take the good with the bad. My previous trash man said hi all the time and was always pleasent. While constantly leaving trash behind. take a guess who i think the bigger asswhole is? I'll take the guy who does his job well everytime. I can live with the crying and complaining and the bad attitude.i cant live with the trash piling up.

Will The Phoenix Suns Be Any Good?

Just refer to my previous post as a response. Dalembert does get into early foul trouble, hence the playing time mark jackson got. instead of arguing with you over something that hasnt happened yet. i'll just wait to see what happens. my point was we are reffering to the defensive aspects of the game. Amare stoudemire was 20th in blocks 1.63 at the 5 position/41 minutes a game and no one would dare call him "soft". that was my entire statement. Hunter was 29 in blocks at 10 minutes a game. whats so hard to understand. sixers need a second shot blocker. not a rebounder or scorer. Hunter will play the same amount of minutes jackson played(approx 16-19)His blocks will hopefully double, along with his points and boards. 10/5/2.5 blocks is ok by me for a 2nd center at about 17.5 minutes a game. Do you understand now? or are you going to continue to argue with no stats or facts and just your opinion? i mean, what the hell,i think bryant is a sissy, does that mean he's not going to get 28 points a game? I mean (shit)how many teams skipped him in the draft(including orlando)a team that let shaq go aswell. Not sure how your basing your argument on a team that did that.Did that mean shaq was "soft" as well? please put some substance in your next post man(besides a pic of your TP in the shower)you must have one of those new shower toilet combos(i hope)

i certainly didnt mean to imply hunter was or is or ever will be the backbone of a defense.i just know that he got a block and a half per game in about 10 minutes. He should get double the time in philly and maybe get 2.5 blocks per game which will be good for atleast 3rd or 4th in the league. with the way iverson and webber let people go by them, hunter is a good shot blocking addition to the sixers.he will play behind sam dalembert.who is also deemed "soft".and was also 16th in the league in blocks at 1.68 per. Amare stoudemire was 20th in blocks 1.63 at the 5 position and no one would dare call him "soft". Maybe hunter is a "soft scorer". But the 76ers dont need scoring. they need a second shot blocker. And i think they got one in hunter.who again by the way was 3rd on his team in blocks in the playoffs at 1/3 the playing time. His playing time will double in philly and hopefully his blocks will also.

McNabb and T O

I think the only reason this thread was created was due to the whole "first play TD" thing like last year. And if you go back and read the previous thread concerning T.O.,there were a few people saying he couldnt exist on the same field with mcnabb. Low and behold a TD first play, first pass. i think after all the negative attention(most of it deserved)that TO got in the last thread about him, this thread is very "news worthy".It went from T.O. wont play for the eagles this year to 5 catches, 131 yrds, 1 TD(on the first play like last year)in the first half alone. thats beyond remarkable(yea yea yea preseason doesnt matter, however all starters were playing)Some people have different opinions.I dont see the point to repeatedly attack a persons thread just because you are "tired" of the topic. Just dont comment at all. Im sure if admin had a problem with this "fpp", they would address it with the posting member. Posting a comment to a thread in regard to whether or not you deem it FPP worthy is argumentative at best, and has nothing at all to do with moving the topic along. i mean ,seriously are you really trying to tell another member what and what not to post?Move on to another thread. Its not a requirment to read all of them. If i see something that doesn't interest me, i don't even read it.I just let the people who are interested in it discuss it among themselves. The same way i would want them to let me post and discuss whatever i like. As pertaining to the topic. jojomfd1, you're right. not bad at all.A few members of espn said this guy wouldnt even put an eagles uniform on this year, let alone step on the field. I think he will set another club record and lead the league in one stat or another.Just my opinion. I hope i dont get verbally beat up for this. I mean who really cares what i think.

I like the suns.I dont think they will be as good as last year. They also lost steven hunter(7'0) who averaged 4.0 points 2.5 rebounds and 1.20 blocks(3rd on team) in only 14 minutes per game in the playoffs.the only time this guy got in was when Amare needed a rest. He was 3rd on the team in blocks thru reg season aswell(in only 1/3 the playing time). He altered shots and the suns will miss him. They picked up james jones from indiana today. He is ok coming off the bench but wont make up for the loss of a true shot blocker.

Hossa for Heatley

Qbert72, i just read the entire article about the 'trade".Nice. it proved my point.worst trade in history(in my opinion). And qspm, i like esche, however i just wish at some point that the flyers would put a big name back there. The same way i wish the sixers would get a big name center. I mean how long can philly fans live with chamberlin(at center)and bernie parent(in goal). Meatsaber, he was named senior VP in charge of player/personnel june 1992. Made the lindros deal. was named VP/GM of florida panthers march one 1993(after flyers owner was qouted as saying "what in the sam hell did you just do") And i still like Hossa over heatly.

Hossa for Heatley

thank you both for the corrections.. 1.i knew it was clarkE but for some reason after i previewed the other posts and saw no E on the end of his name,i figured i was the one making the error. So i deleted the e from his name everywhere i typed it. 2.Further more i wasnt sure if Oates won the cup or not,but i knew there was a game 7(just couldnt for the life of me remember if he was on the winning team)and you're right. it wasnt recchi it was huffman and a first round pick in 1993 entry draft: He was originally drafted by the Flyers in the first round (sixth overall) of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. His rights were traded by the Flyers, along with Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Ron Hextall, a first round pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, $15,000,000 and future considerations Since he gave away half the team i just assumed recchi was included. I must say being a flyers fan and knowing his nickname is "Clarky". I should have known i was right with the spelling. All that said, nothing makes up for the worst trade in pro sports history whether it was hartford or quebec. they became the powerhouse known as the colorado av's. But with the way Clarke is operating now. he is most certainly making up for it. Forsberg alone turned out to be twice as good as lindros. I can only imagine who the first rounder was in 1993(was it sakic)???if not you can bet it was somebody good. Look how the av's turned out upto 10 yrs after that trade. Quebec sucked before that. until this day they thank Bob Clarke. Answered my own question: 1993 entry draft first round to Que from Philly SELECTION # 10 THIBAULT, Jocelyn G PHI-QUE Sherbrooke Thats just ridiculous wasnt there another team involved in the trade?i think there was. was it the islanders? if so. look what happened the same year 1993 entry draft:first round SELECTION #14 DEADMARSH, Adam C NYI-QUE Portland SELECTION #23 BERTUZZI, Todd C QUE-NYI Guelph

Didnt want to leave without touching the actual topic of the thread. I dont like the trade.I like Hossa's potential. He will sooner or later stop disappearing in the playoffs.the sens were always a scary team to play when hossa was hot.Heatley is deffinitely good.not sure i would have given up the picks along with a player with so much skating potential.I mean with the "new run and gun" NHL coming along, hossa should blossom. Not sure either team will be a factor in the playoffs. 1 more bad move clark made a few years ago. He gave up that young goalie prospect Maxime oulett and a 2nd rnd pick for adam oates at the trade dead line.He was a free agent at the end of that year.He signed with the ducks and won the cup after half a season with philly. Bad move. Clarks biggest downside "we dont need a big name goalie, the team we put in front of our goalie should be good enough to win it". thats just idiotic. Spend some money on a goalie dumbass.

But adding such pylons as Hatcher, Therien, & Rathje in the new run & gun age of the NHL confirms to me that Bobby is still playing in the 70s, (maybe one too many concussions). And that is just the most recent of a looong list of Philly Phollies with Clark as the ringmaster! While i would agree with you in the past clark has made many mistakes. However he has made up for that in the past few years. He added hatcher/rathje because he already has 2(johnsson/pitkanen)puck carrying/power play d-men.3 counting kapanen.that said he needed to add size and muscle and he did.And clark scouting and drafting players like mike richards and jeff carter(roy canidate), proves he has "recently" done his job well. As for the "new run and gun age" of the NHL. They say that every year.Yes there have been changes(that i really like actually)but every year each team has that "shaq" player parked in front of the goalie.which seems to be the mainstay in the powerplay/half court game. And who better to "lean on" that guy than derian hatcher or mike rathje. the forsberg signing speaks for itself. Clarks' grade this year as gm "A" Clarks' grade the year he sent forsberg/steve dueschane/ron hextal/mike ricci/chris simon/mark recchi and 15 million in cash to hartford(it was hartford right?) for lindros "F" Thats one hell of a turn around if i do say so myself.

How stupid can athletes, who have it made, be? Between Straw and Doc those Tampa police really seem to have their hands full with former big leaguers i'd like to find out the ratio of non pro athlete to pro athlete convicts in the tampa area. Not sure why people think athletes should "no better" than to get in trouble. This guy would be doing this if he stocked shelves at walmart(supercenter at that). people are people.his job has nothing to do with the type of person he is. Someone tell me this, the girl who crashed her own car with babies in it into that pond in the 90's.. you know, the 1 who said OJ did it.Where did she work? Sometimes i think we hold athletes to a different standard when it comes to the laws of this nation and making mistakes. If he slammed into someone and killed them. His former job would have nothing to do with it. And it would be a little less humorous. For instance, lets say that the recent tragedy involving the 49er player who passed away was as follows. He didnt die in connection with playing the game. This drunk driver slammed into him afterwards. I wish there was a rule to a site like this. In order to be allowed to post something highlighting a mistake someone has made. each member must divulge 1 true incident/mistake in their past that they are terribly embarrassed about, im talking ashamed of, and then sit back and watch what normal(and not so normal)everyday people say about it. Theres another ratio i'd like to see. Positive threads vs. negative threads about athletes(current and former) on sports filter.I'm curious as to what it is.

wait a second(before some imature war of words starts. which seems to be the norm here when a new person gives thier opinion)I took another look at my post. And i did make a mistake with the way i worded it.To be honest, i really meant i feel like it may have something to do with an "over the counter" GNC type enhancer.Maybe a caffiene/creatine based "blood pressure raiser like alot of these guys take(in connection with dehydration).IF IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH DRUGS OR ENHANCERS AT ALL.I actually only came to that conclusion after reading in an article that the Med examiner stated he has to "wait for the toxicology reports".Because the autopsy was inconclusive. http://story.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050822/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_lineman_dies (sorry, linkbuilder doesnt seem to work for me) In my opinion, i think its a little more "tacky" to crack jokes then to speculate about the cause of death. But in my earlier post i refrained from (scolding)the person i disagreed with because people are free to say whatever they want. No matter how tasteless.

I guess in a round-about way i was asking if we (the people) have put athletes above the law during game time?If those guys punched someone in a football game, he gets suspended or something, but no criminal charges.I think in a way i'm referring to the steve moore incident. Mcsorley doesnt cause half the damage bertuzzi does.He catches a charge, the latter doesnt. Shouldnt the laws in this country be inforced no matter if someone is working at a walmart/jiffy lube/bank/post office/hospital/football field/hockey rink/baseball diamond. If artest runs to mid-court and punches a player. no criminal charge. he punches someone in the stands.he's under arrest.Dennis rodman kicks an opposing player. Nothing. He kicks a cameraman, lawsuit. Is the playing surface above the law while the clock is running? And if not, who decides when it is or isnt? And spidey is fine(actually i surf the "web" puting my own "spin" on articles and threads and the like)I saw a thread in the locker room where some "posters" were offended due to being called only a portion of thier name.I have no problem with what im called(as long as its not late for lunch).Oh yea and "pimpzilla". 1 time a guy called me pimpzilla and i didnt like it that much. And sissy, dont like that one.And i dont like being called into a courtroom, or being called for traveling.Dont like being called out at 3rd when im safe.(My point is you can call me whatever you like).

I would agree with this post entirely(except for the blazing real time action part) yes, the infraction is at real time, the "call" is real time, but the huttle by 5 officials to decide whether the call was right(unfortunately)happends at real time aswell.I must also say, i'd rather have the huttle (and replay)than a bad call.

Just one more thing.I hate to combine the 2 topics but, when should national sports rules "over rule" the law? This kicker gets in serious trouble and the bouncer at the most has a headace/broken nose and or concussion.Steve Moore gets his neck broke, and bertootise misses 13 days of work.Is the field/ice or court above the law?If a fan jumps into play he is dealt with by the Law.If an athelete breaks the law off the field/ice/court should he be dealt with by the rules of his sport or the law?For some reason i am a fan of fighting in hockey. But why can a baseball/basketball/hockey player commit assault while he's "in play" and not get arrested(unless he runs into the stands)is "the playing surface" above the law in america?Or is it the "player himself".

I disagree. Front line players score more goals, play more ice and impact games more than the other components of the team. That is why they are in demand during the drafting stages, are paid more money and win more awards I agree, and to prove this point easily. "I'm a firm believer in second chances..."

I'm really going to miss the days of NO HOCKEY. I know i'm new here but, i dont think i have ever been to a sports forum based website and someone say they would rather not have the 4th(in my opinon)major team sport not go on at all. Having played in the minors for 3 years i must say hockey comes right after football with me. Besides the skill required to perform on the most slippery surface known to man,i must say that you need twice as much endurance as basketball/football/and 8 times as much as "americas past time".And besides that, at age nine my father told me "he went to a fight between the flyers and rangers and a hockey game broke out".So you have be tough as well. What other pro league can claim that one of its teams beat another international team completely off the playing surfaceduring the game. See russian national team quits against philadelphia flyers(i forget what year it was). Thank God for that guy who picked up the stick off the ground that day, asked his friend to stand between the 2 trees, then said "ok, im going to smack this rock as hard as i can(over 90 miles an hour)past you between the trees. And you try to stop it. Then that nutcase said, "on 1 condition, since this is going to hurt, i reserve the right to come kick the shit out of you when i ever i feel like it". The goalie was born. I cant wait for the season to start. p.s.i still dont think i would call the poor guy a "troll" though.

"I'm a firm believer in second chances..."

I'd have to say it would all depend upon his intent. If he intended to cause such a brutal injury, why did he "not" use his stick? And i totally disagree with the "punch broke his neck, not the fall" diagnosis. The injury was obviously a "compression injury".Now while i dont think the punch broke his neck, i do think the follow up (-DDT- if you will) did.Either way, this folks his hockey. "He was nowhere near the play." This person doesnt understand hockey(or pro sports for that matter)How many times have you witnessed a hit or a block in the nfl on someone that is "no where near the play". If you're on the field/ice/court/ you are well aware that you are fair game. And further more these people are paid ENOUGH to know that. Lets also not forget that the hit on moore(who i do feel very sorry for)was infact retaliation. I just dont think that bertuzzi intended any more of a brutal injury than moore did when he hit (whoever it was), Would someone please find out the injury sustained by the guy Moore hit? I also think had bertuzzi came up to moore from the front and not the back this thread wouldnt exsist.Note to all you thugs out there, be a man, dont go after someone from behind. if you're truly man enough to take someone on, do it face to face. In the heat of anger or retaliation, you never know what kind of result there is going to be. What if Moore would have died?Or Brashear for that matter. You so called thugs in the nhl that "think" you're hard, why are so many of you now attacking from behind? Are you scared? Are you taking the path of least resistence? Confront a man face to face. Give him the chance to defend himself and his life.If you live by the "dirty hit" or the "cheap shot", you're certainly going to die by it. Hey Todd, you coming up from behind steve says alot about you as a person.maybe you did intend to inflict such a brutal injury. Maybe you intended a black eye. Next time take a man "head-on". Until you do, stop fucking crying about the way you're being treated. "So a man soeth, that shall he also reap". Reap it pussy.

Terrell Owens would like to publicly thank his fans

Sad thing is, he'll probably lead the league in TD's just to spite all the people who hate him(97% of america/75% of all third wolrd nations)
