Tony Gonzalez is coming back for one more season.

Late to the party, but...
1. Denver 2. Green Bay 3. Atlanta 4. New England 5. Ryan 6. Turner 7. New England's Kicker 8. ATL

Somehow I missed this entirely. Tuned in to catch the last 3 laps though. It's a good looking track, but I'll have to take everyone else's word on how it races. How was the crowd?

Wow. ACC basketball really hasn't been the same since the last round of expansion (or, one could argue, since the expansion got rid of an all home an home schedule), but this is still kind of shocking.
Which team will get the newspaper treatment in the Big 10?

How are they going to play baseball on a cricket ground? The dimensions and layout are a bit different to say the least (not to mention dirt for the infield).

Atlanta by 2 runs. Oakland by 3 runs
Bonus - Medlen (ATL)
Triple Crown - Jason Heyward (2 RBI)

Hmmm. I wonder if FIFA will take a note of this.

I never thought I would witness a triple crown winner in today's game. Well done Miggy.

Group D looks tasty for a neutral.

I'm in! Go Czech Republic! (Mainly because I was just in Prague).

I think Stan Kasten is much more important day to day than Magic will be.

Braves fans are going to have a number of trips to make to the HOF over the next few years. It really underlines how lucky I've been to have had the pleasure of seeing Maddox, Glavine, Smoltz, and Jones all play live.

I can't believe the track was in good enough shape to complete the race after that explosion and fire.

Donald Bradmon? Not sure how he'd stack up against fast bowlers though.
Ted Williams 1941? He'd get his hits, but would it be enough in the polo grounds against someone like Walter/Randy Johnson.

I was suprised at how far many of these players fell in the draft, but I suppose the importance of building a team that would function caused a bit of that. (Maybe that's why my fantasy teams perform the way they do: i.e, poorly.)

It's interesting that so many current players make the list. I need to peer more closely to see which interesting omissions there are. Tony Adams is one that comes immediately to mind.

So Tim Thomas is an asshat. News at 11.

Fascinating read. The preponderance of anonymous sources always makes me a bit leery, but I guess I can understand them in this case.
Oh, and welcome to the conversation SteveYork,

Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Verlander pitch more than once in a series.

How about a word for Pujols, who absolutely carried the Cards all month. In the end, the Braves bullpen just ran out of gas. They were so good for so long this season, but had to pitch way to many innings.

And I say that as a fan.

I've just renewed the SpoFi league.
1. Select the 'Join a league' option
2. Choose private league
3. Now enter the code 326879-222878 to join the private league.
Good luck everyone! I'm Hamburglar SV, as per usual.

I think it was time for Bradley to go. Not that he did a poor job, but I think 8 years in charge is just too much, and to use Grant Wahl's term, the team had become stale.
Now the big question is whether Klinsmann will be given the authority he asked for the last couple of times he was approached, which US Soccer ultimately balked at.

After losing to the US in the Women's World Cup today, the North Korean coach claimed 7 or 8 players had been struck by lightening in training in the run up to the cup, thus limiting their performances.

He's going to have a lot of work to do keeping all those egos in check.

I'm guessing we won't see him in the major leagues (at least in the US) again.

While he is absolutely right in his details, he still comes off as kind of a jerk.

He fought tooth and nail against the team moving out of Atlanta. What a weaselly thing to say.
That's not how we see it in Atlanta. Here's a local look.

From the Hawks point of view, Teague was a bright spot, but Chicago just had too much depth.

Hawks leave a pair of tickets for Jameer Nelson for their first game against the Bulls. It must have worked for them, since they upset the Bulls.
