Bengals Receiver Chris Henry Dies After Car Accident

What a shame. Sounds like he was finally getting his life together. Terrible waste.

Thank God that the shot wasn't of a 400 lb lineman!

Jordan's Night to Remember Turns Petty

I can see, perhaps, that its's difficult for athletes who have had so much acclaim to let go of it and just settle into the role of retirement, and to realize that you can no longer play at the level that you once did. (Many would argue that Brett Favre is at the front end of that road). Too bad he couldn't settle into our collective memories of being a member of the elite class who are considered the greatest ever at their sport, with grace. Hopefully, one day, someone like Tiger Woods can show him how it should have been.

BYU Upsets Oklahoma After Sam Bradford Injures Shoulder

Not an OU fan, but I wish Bradford well, he's a good kid. This is precisely the situation I would have to consider when advising my son to enter the draft, or stay in college. He's already won the Heisman, and he has much to lose if he gets hurt this year. He probably dodged a bullet this time, and he will recover from this pretty quickly. On the subject of Telemanjaro, there are three high school games being played there tomorrow. Not sure they can hit it, but I'm sure there will be kickers and punters doing their damndest the try!

Texas Rangers Trade for Pudge Rodriguez

Welcome back, Pudge! It's interesting that before he left the Rangers, there was talk of moving him to the outfield to prolong his career. Management didn't feel his knees would hold up much longer at the catcher position. Seven years later, glad to see him back. Hope he can finish his career where he started.

Radio Silence Causes Panic!

Every sport evolves as technologies improve. More importantly, its dangerous enough riding 120 mile stretches through the mountains. Safety should be paramount, and that is hampered by the lack of communication.

Very special Father's Day for Falcons' Nicholas

I can't think of a better father's day gift than the life of your child. That said, what an incredibly brave and selfless act on the part of the donor family.

Dirk Duped by a Gold Digger?

Good for Dirk for planning a pre-nup. That's the sure-fire way to ward off the gold-diggers, and one can't be too careful in his position. as this situation illustrates. I still feel bad for him. It's bad enough that he was fooled by this woman, still harder to have to go through it in public. I hope that the reports that there is a pregnancy involved are false. He will be tied to her forever then. Another thing that guys in his position need to be careful about.

Uncomfortable

Glad to see that this kid has landed somewhere. He's a good athlete, and a little bit older with a wife and kids, so he's more mature with a good work ethic. When the Cowboys were questioned as to why they didn't sign him in the later rounds, there was some indication of a problem with his physical.

Texas cop delays Texans RB Moats at hospital as mother-in-law dies

I can understand the officer's initial concern with the large man in front of him who was in an (understandably) emotional state, but after the first couple of minutes, it is obvious that Moats is taking great pains not to make the officer feel threatened. While I have enormous respect and gratitude for the officers who do an incredibly dangerous job so that the rest of us can be safe, this is an isolated incident where Barney Fife was so overcome with his own sense of power, that even after hospital personnel came out to assure him that this was, in fact, an urgent situation, he continued to "lecture" Moats for several more minutes while his wife sat without him, watching her mother die. Inexcusable.

High School Hazing Rears its Ugly Head Again

Perhaps I missed it, but I didn't see anything in the article about anyone being prosecuted except the coaches. What about the kids who were the perpetrators? These kids are old enough to know better. How does an entire group think this kind of violence is okay, something that is going to be so particularly degrading and can cause some serious physical injuries. I agree, jc that the entire team should be given the death penalty for a few years, at least until those in this community who think this okay either to perptrate or have to submit to, have moved on.

Josh Howard Disrespects National Anthem

Based on the whole body of his behavior in the past four months, Josh will take major heat in Dallas. That said, if he decides to lay low for awhile, and most especially, if he steps up his performance in a majaor way when the season starts, all will be forgiven and Mavs fans will be once again "lovin' them some Josh".
