The list is of teams that have had more losing seasons than winning seasons in recent years (or recent decades). Part of what makes The Cubs so painful to their fans is that they have had winning seasons and even made it to the playoffs before thing went horribly awry.

The five teams on this list? Not so much.

I guess the difference is that the five clubs on the list lose consistently, while the Cubs lose occasionally, but spectacularly.

Well, in Clevelander's defense, none of his teams have won anything since the Tribe won the World Series back in the 40's. So he's understandably experiencing some angst.

Useless trivia for the day: My home (the Twin Cities) currently has the longest stretch of any city with at least three major sports teams (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL) without making an appearance in the World Series, Super Bowl, NBA Finals or Stanley Cup Finals. Last one was the Twins' World Series in 1991. (The North Stars also made the Stanley Cup Finals that year.) The Twin Cities have also gone the fourth-longest in that group without winning any of those four, behind Cleveland, Seattle and Philadelphia (though each of those cities has lost at least two different ones of those championships since the Twin Cities even saw one of their teams in one).

It seemed tangentially related to the thread, though I have digressed a bit.

It's kinda like messing up your credit score. You overspend, it doesn't work out, you already emptied your savings, now it's in collection and takes years to get it back in good shape. I'm happy to announce that these teams are spending a little more wisely. If you refer to terrapin's thread, there are 14 MLB teams that are "spending well". All 5 of these teams are among the 14.

And they all seem to have some good young talent in their savings account.
