Iron City Blues : To protest more than a decade of ownership mismanagement, they launched a Web site, IrateFans.com, and organized a "Fans for Change" walkout after the third inning of a home game. Unfortunately, only a few hundred fans who left their seats actually left the game; most just got up to get beer.

After 15 years, we Bucs fans aren't asking for miracles. We just want what came so easily to the pre-2004 Red Sox, the post-1908 Cubs, and the other great losing teams of all time: sympathy.

It's truly a shame because Pittsburgh is a great city. Sure, they have a football-first mentality, but don't think for a minute they won't support a competitive team. I've been to games there in the past few years where the crowds have been excellent. It's tough for these small market teams, but with good scouting and talent evaluation (an area the Pirates have been lacking), their fortunes can start to turn around. It's not going to happen with a miracle, but by sound baseball decisions.

The fans of the BUCS still believe and will return to a team that management truly believes in - not just stiffs in jersies.

I'm actually coming out of my boycott this year because the Buccos actually invested in some of their talent this offseason. They didn't hand out crazy Jason Kendall-like contracts. With new management all the way up the line and what looks to be like some sound investing, they just might turn the corner in the next few years. As long as it looks like management is trying to improve the team, I will pay to see them play.
