Stuggling Ottawa Senators fire head coach Paddock, Murray takes over "I would hope that they're embarrassed by the way they've played lately," said Murray.

There were rumours before the trading deadline arrived that he was in hot water. Losing back-to-back shutouts (one of them to the LEAFS, for heaven's sake!) was definitely enough to pull the trigger. Of course, you could have made a TON of money if you made a bet back in December that the coach for Ottawa would be fired before the coach for the Leafs. I don't know if it will pull them out of their tailspin, but as a Leaf fan, at least it will make for a much more interesting March than what I was previously expecting.

I know this is a move that had to be made, my question is; how did there D get so bad? I don't think this is the last move Murray will make either. I know the trade dead line is over, but there is obviously some chemistry problems in the dressing room. If Emery is causing problems, send him to the minors. Alfredsson not leading in the dressing room? Take the C away from him and give it to Spezza or Heatley. This group is way too talented to be playing like this. Who would have thought at this time of year, the Canadians would be the cream of the crop of Canadian teams playing in the eastern division.

Yeah, who would've thunk that the coach would go before Emery, especially the way the media has been slanting things. I was surprised not to see this move on trade deadline (well, not too surprised really). But, I'll go out on a limb and say that this is a good thing ... Razor Ray is gonna get his groove back and the Sens will follow suit. Perhaps not as in as stylish suits as Emery, but on the ice/dressing room attitudes will be better with Murray at the helm.

Wow. This team is in big trouble - I'm a little shocked. They're way better than the way they've played lately... But 'lately' is turning into 'the second half of the season'. They've given up 4 or more goals something like 20 out of the last 30-odd games. I mean, the Devils did the same thing a few seasons back - fire the coach down the stretch on a winning team... But they weren't choosing between Marty Gerber and Ray Emery, knowhatimean?

Paddock speaks about recent firing, regrets how he dealt with Emery.
