The only problem with that Bull Durham scene is that Robert Wuhl does nothing to help the guy who needs a live rooster.
Robert Wuhl is still not 100% forgiven for Arli$$, but I admit his work in Bull Durham always makes me like a little more. Really, as far as subversive movies go, The Bad News Bears can't be beat. Kids are so often portrayed dishonestly. This, to me, was much more like what it was like to be a sixth grader than any movie I've seen before or since.
Any Given Sunday was one of the most embarrassing movies I've ever wasted time watching. It should have been titled Any Given Asshole.
No "Slapshot"?
It's on the second page of that list, budman.
A pretty good list, and even I've seen most of them. I'd like to point you in the direction of 'The Club' - an Australian film made from David Williamson's play of the same name, from around 1977. They used the Collingwood VFL club as the setting. Less about the players, more about the management, but the film doesn't stint on good Aussie swearing and a bit of dressing room nudity.
