In the context of the brutal cold that these guys endured right outta the gates, this is an extra special thing these guys did. I went out to see the event on day 5, and these guys were still really giving it ... even four hours into a five hour shift. They were playing hockey. It was impressive as hell. The whole set up, the rink (the boards surrounded with chain link to keep the puck from goin' astray into the sometimes very large crowds), the venue (firepits, bleachers, concession, etc. etc. etc.). Anyway, my point is ... hats off to these guys. A super-impressive effort for a very worthy cause!
Congratulations to everyone involved. I'll assume that even though the good doctor had a regulation rink in his backyard, he didn't have a Zamboni. I'm also guessing the ice gets pretty choppy after the first 3 or 4 days. Man, it sure gets cold there. 4800 total goals? Holy crap, the GAA and SV% stats just went way up. I want to play next time! And from what I heard, it's actually the warm weather that causes more problems with the ice. I think they actually had to play half-rink for a while to not let the ice in front of the nets get too bad.

About half an hour south of the border. Not too far from Calgary. Next time this happens, I will be there in one capacity or the other. I even have Zamboni experience.
