Tony G is the epitome of the tight end. Charlie Sanders & John Mackey still have a place in my heart though.
I'm glad I got Tony O'Gates for my fantasy team, (especially as he's the only guy who has done any scoring for me). Tony G : 164 games, 759 catches, 9150 yards, 64 touchdowns. Antonio G : 67 games, 308 catches, 3925 yards, 37 touchdowns. Will Toni G catch Tony G?

No doubt if Gates continues his phenomenal play, he could catch Gonz. But then again, Gonz has only played 10 years, and is still quite healthy.
The thing i appreciate the most about Tony Gonzalez is how hard he has worked to turn into a complete tight end. Early on in his career in KC he had great hands, that much was clear, but was practically useless blocking. Rather than merely rest content to catch touchdowns, he has worked hard to vastly improved his blocking ability. He's not going to flatten anyone necessarily, but i appreciate his willingness to get better and do all he can to earn his pay. He's pretty sweet. I'm a fan.

Been a cheifs fan for years, go Tony! That said, he will be finding a spot in the hall of fame. To bad he will need to go elsewhere to get a superbowl ring. Fan yes, but really Tony and Larry Jonhson are their only big stars on offense. Hurman is trying to get the Cheifs younger, but I can't see Tony G staying around long enough to get to a superbowl with them. Look for him to be their next big trade bait to get younger. Oh you put Brodie in there and he doesn't have the year he is having.
TE's have never gotten the recognition that they deserve. They get smacked on just about every catch they make, and they have to block defensive ends. Everyone talks about the Manning-Harrison connection, but just watch how many times Peyton checks down to the TE on 3rd down. With all the weapons on their offense, the TE is almost always covered by a LB (mismatch anyone?). If the Chiefs or the Chargers had any decent receivers (Or a QB in the Chiefs case), these two guys would be putting up Jerry Rice type numbers.

Gonzalez is a Cal grad. But I don't hold that against him ;) Gates has a better TD/game, TD/catch ratio but (assuming Gates stays healthy) both ought to make the HoF. Tight end discrimination aside.
