In my American upbringing, I was taught the Leafs are hosers.
Actually, in my experience,Yank means 1 thing in da South and another abroad,ie Canada or Merrie Olde...... And what about in the north, such as Michigan or South Bend?
To a non-American, a Yankee is anyone from the USA. In the USA, a Yankee is anyone from the north. To those from the north, a Yankee is anyone from New England. In New England, a Yankee is anyone from northern New England. To those of us in northern New England, a Yankee is anyone who eats pie for breakfast. (Pass the blueberry, please)
And to those who eat pie for breakfast?
....is someone who tugs firmly on your chain.
To us, here in Connecticut, a Yankee is anyone who can't hit Tampa Bay pitching worth a damn.
To us down here, a Yank is a septic.
