Easing the pain of losing:: Newsday reports seven Mets are suspected of smoking marijuana, and not just in private: they have been spotted toking in the parking lot, and one player had a stash delivered to Shea Stadium. Culprits include reliever Mark Corey, who had a seizure earlier this season after smoking pot with teammate Tony Tarasco, and other unnamed players. The article also states Ecstasy is popular in the Mets' minor league system.

Well, when you're that bad, you gotta do something. Side note: Nice pic of Grant Roberts with the bong...is it just me, or should those events not be photographed? What with the whole incriminating evidence thing and all.

So if, say, marijuana were decriminalized or legalized, would the owners then be okay with their players smoking? (so long as it wasn't at the stadium, of course). With the possible exception of Marge Schott (fruitcake) have any owners made any attempt to keep their players from drinking or smoking ciggs outside of the stadium? I doubt it. Maybe we'll see the day when the World Series trophy is converted into a bong to be passed around the locker room with the champagne.

Well, that would explain that game where the Mets had 6 errors.

maybe it also explains why the Mariners got swept by the Rangers last week?

have any owners made any attempt to keep their players from drinking or smoking ciggs outside of the stadium I remember how weird it was to see Keith Hernandez smoking in the dugout in the mid-80s.

Overheard yesterday on Boston AM sportsradio: (in tune with that horrible Afroman song) "We were gonna chase the NL East... but then we got high..."
