I feel truly blessed! Most of the time I get to see 3 games! The 1pm game, and more often than not, a 4 pm game and then Al and John at 8pm. Only bad thing is I have to suffer with the Browns as my "home" team. And I get all this with just an antenna! Sometimes less is more.
NFL Sunday Ticket, I get to see all the games! Locally we get 2 CBS affiliates, and 1 Fox, so, we usually get 3 games that way, and often Global and CH11 carry 2 more, but I like a choice of all games, so, we went with Rogers Sports Pack, $26 a mth, but you get NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, college hoops, college gridiron, and OHL hockey coming out your ears.
Obviously FOX has learned that nobody feels like watching the Lions though. Seeing the small area that covers the Lions game is just sad. Unfortunately we (in N. CA) are stuck watching EVERY single Raiders game. The Raiders can't even score anymore, unless it's on defense. And if its not the Raiders, it's the 49ers....
I think it has something to do with federal regulations that the NFL has to follow when it broadcasts local teams. The station can only show a doubleheader when the local team is on the road.it has to show the local teams game to the teams host city and viewing area. It's contractual...
WOW, I almost feel lucky to have no "home team" to watch each week. Our Fox and CBS stations hold a vote (phone/internet) each week to pick what games to watch when the stations are covering more than one game in the same time slot. The closest NFL/Pro anything teams are in Atlanta so we do have a load of Falcons fans but unless they are doing really well or playing someone impressive Im not stuck seeing them every weekend.
I was aware of the odd rules that govern what games are shown, but can anyone explain why they split Alaska into two sections for the 1:00 games this Sunday? Just seems odd that the northern half of Alaska watches a different game than the southern half.
I didn't know about the "Can't compete against the home team" scenario but I guess it makes sense. Anyone want to clarify why they can't televise a fantatstic ending (like Cincinatti and San Diego last week) if it goes past 4:15pm, but we can get replays of every single play 3 seconds after it happens?
WOW, I almost feel lucky to have no "home team" to watch each week. I have friends in L.A. who feel the same way: "Since we don't have a team, we always get to watch the best games each week."
It looks I may actually get to see a whole Jets game this week! The last couple of weeks I got to see the last few minutes after the regularly scheduled games were over. What really sucks is that FOX had to cut off the Cincinatti game because league rules say they can only go to 15 minutes past the hour or something like that. I used to live halfway between Philly and B-more. Getting the coverage from both cities was great because sometimes the FOX stations were showing different games but other times I was getting the same game on two different channels. For some reason the Philly station was always 5 seconds behind the Baltimore one.
It looks I may actually get to see a whole Jets game this week! You say that like it's a good thing.
I thought was going to be. It's depressing that I had to wait all season just to see that. I wonder how much the umpire got paid to overturn the fumble.
