Free Furniture for Armchair Quarterbacks

Pretty crazy. At least Randy was smart enough to insure himself, just in case. So really, he is not out any money, except for the cost of the policy. I wonder how much that was, or if they will insure Randy again?

I kind of enjoy reading about an insurance company getting sacked for a loss due to their own bad call. The Packers called some stinkers too, heh heh.

Naw, some specific insurance companies do cover these risks. Hole-in-one insurance is another biggie (and can be covered for up to $100,000 for some tournaments). No big whoop. The furniture stores in Florida offered the same deal if a Marlin pitcher threw a no hitter. Nobody noticed.

This guy was smart. He had his ass covered just in case but look at what his idea has done for him since. He was on MSNBC last night and God knows how many other shows he has been on. Imagine how much FREE advertising he has gotten from this. That is worth its weight in gold.

Great publicity stunt! He knew what he was doing. Anyone who calls themselves a huge Bears fan has to probably have a pretty good idea how truly pathetic Favre and the Packers are this year. Even with that being said, a shutout in the NFL (even though there were a couple last week) is pretty tough to come by. Most horrible teams can at least get their puny kicker out on the field to get the goose-egg off the board. On another (slightly) related topic, maybe Brett Favre did actually retire this past off-season.

Indeed, defenses on teams that are winning big will sometimes slack off a little bit in the fourth quarter, resulting in a "trash" TD that doen't affect the game's outcome but obviates the blight of a shutout. It's human nature to ease up a little when it doesn't matter all that much, but with some DCs and defensive units, the "no trash scoring EVER" is a big point of pride.

BTW, folks: How many of you expect Brett Favre to start at noon on New Year's Eve day when the Pack has its rematch with duh Beahs? I'm not saying he'd take a dive, but maybe it'll be time to start giving what's-his-name (Rodgers?) a few snaps instead.
