Browns lose C Bently for season

Totally snake-bit - unreal. And as much as I feel for fans like me and for the team - you have to feel for Bentley - he was so psyched to be with the Browns. It'll definitely be interesting to see how the ream recovers.

Bentley will bounce back next year, it's not career ending. Hallen can do the job He is better than any previous centers we had since the Browns came back. Thank God Savage added depth to the line in the off season. The Browns will bounce back, Hang in there the Browns are on the right track!

I dont think that this will greatly effect the Browns, with or without Bentley, I dont see them making the playoffs. People have put way too much stock in their offseason aquisitions, and are really depending on Frye. In 3 or 4 years, I think this team will be a force to be reckoned with.

Yeah, no real difference between having a really talented, Pro-Bowl center and having a center that isn't really athletic or strong, which is what the Browns are stuck with now. The Browns offensive line had great potential, not they have to fill the gaping hole left by Bentley's injury.

Yeah, but if your relying on one guy to make or break your season, then chances are, you aren't a legitimate playoff team.

The center makes the line calls, so he is very important. Remember how much the Vikings struggled last year without Birk? This was a huge free agent signing for the Browns, and was especially important considering that they have an inexperienced QB running the offense.

We still have a good center ,but LeCharles was just a big leader and we wont have that identity ont he o-line anymore ,but we still have a good team we just have to get past this morale killer

What good center? Hallen? He is a technically sound center, but not big, strong, or athletic. Plus, now they don't have depth on the line.

Yeah, but Minnesota struggled last year because of all the off the field problems. They finished 9-7, and could have done better if Dante had a good year. They had a useable backup in Withrow, who btw is starting this year. For someone to say that a center will make or break a teams season dosen't make much sense. He might effect the teams play slightly, but not as dramatically as you think. Hallen isnt a bad backup, he could probably lead the line better than Charles, who has less experience, and is new to the system. The offensive line really isnt the biggest issue- it their defense. The other starting members of the o-line are experienced, and proven. Plus they have another veteran in Jeff Faine, who can possible split playing time with Hallen. This injury obviously wont be beneficiary to the Browns, but they aren't a playoff team this year anyway.

I don't even know where to begin with your post or if I should bother. Withrow was absolutely atrocious last year. He got slapped around and it was ugly. Withrow is not only not starting, but he isn't even with the Vikings anyone. And, as for Cleveland, no one (except you and Hallen's mother) thinks Hallen is an upgrade on the line over Bentley. Hallen is also a free agent acquisition, so he doesn't know the system either. Faine, according to your own link, plays for New Orleans. And, we have no idea who is and is not a playoff team until the games are actually played.

First of alll, according to nfl.com, Faine is a member of the Browns. Currently he is stated as the number one option. Secondly, Withrow is still a member of the Vikings, and is listed as their number one option. Thirdly, I never once said that Hallen was an upgrade over Bentley, I said that he could step in and do a servicable job. Lastly, the playoffs are almost out of the question with a rookie quarterback. Even Eli Manning struggled in his first year- and he was a number one pick. Maybe the websites information is wrong, and if it is, I should be more carefull of where I get my resources.

Yeah, the depth charts are wrong. You should look at the rosters or the players. Withrow is not on the roster. And, he was Minny's number one option for a little while before being replaced by Fowler fairly early last season. Faine's player page shows him as a Saint. You said Hallen "could probably lead the line better than Charles, who has less experience, and is new to the system." Charlie Frye isn't a rookie. He started five games last season.

Ok, well at least now I don't look like a total ass.... but point is, I don't think that Frye will lead Cleveland to the playoffs, but Cleveland should be able to make the playoffs in a few years- one Frye emerges. And Bentley's injury will effect the team, but wont totally make or break Clevelands season.
