Does anyone here have an idea what it means to have meth in his system? Does its presence necessarily mean that Howe was driving impaired? How long does meth stay in your system after use? Not that it makes a bit of difference one way or the other. I was just curious.
It does not mean he was impaired, in my understanding, BullpenPro, as meth is detectable for at least 72 hours after use, but, he may well have been tired enough to fall asleep at the wheel after a binge, which according to the witness' description, is entirely possible. This scenario occurs frequently in the trucking industry, and that is why I may know a little about it, as I have been forced to fire many drivers after testing positive for meth use.
How long does meth stay in your system after use? Much like cocaine, meth runs through you pretty quickly.
I can't say I'm surprised.... I can't either. Too bad he couldn't kick his drug habit long ago--R.I.P.
"...former Dodger, Yankee, Ranger and Twin..." - The_Black_Hand You just reminded me of last nights game Drug Addict, Geez
I wonder if he exhibited any signs of long term use or did he fall off the wagon the night before? The Black Hand, actually meth is metabolized much slower than cocaine. (facts, symptoms) "Peak blood methamphetamine concentrations occur shortly after injection, a few minutes after smoking, and around 3 hours after oral dosing. Peak plasma amphetamine concentrations occur around 10 hours after methamphetamine use" Rapidly absorbed when taken orally, the effects of the drug peak within 2 to 3 hours and are measurably effective in the body for up to 8 hours.
With meth being a mixture of over-the-counter ingredients including cold medicine, is it possible one of those bits gave a false-positive for meth? I know with Howe's history the meth find seems slam-dunk, but I'm curious if anyone has insight. RIP, Steve.
72 hours if one drinks a lot of liquid and pisses a lot. Remants stay longer and depending on how often is used, those remants accumulate. Like LSD meth can turn on you without all of a sudden. I know I used to do meth a few years back during whole weekends and a couple of times I turn on all of a sudden later on the week, I remember one time it was Tuesday. It scared the shit out of me. By the way I used to snore it.
Actually sudafed and other antihistimine type over the counter medications can give a false positive for methamphetamine. There is a more sophisticated test that can detect whether the positive is in fact meth or some legal substance.
People like that deserve to be dead!!! 10 time loser
