Giants sign Arrington to $49 million deal LaVar Arrington signed with the New York Giants on Saturday, giving him a chance to play twice a year against his former team and helping fill a huge gap at linebacker for the NFC East champions.

The Giants will be good, but...they still have no chance of making it to the super bowl as long as the seahawks are around.

I think that this move makes the Giants one of, if not the best team in the NFC. With their pass rushing ability- and revamped secondary, the G- Men have a great defense, are are led by an up and coming QB in Manning. What they could really use is a center, or help on the o- line, but they should do really well this coming season. *And by the way, if it wasn't for J. Feely, the G- Men would have beaten the Seahawks- so yea they have a shot at the super bowl.

Wow, staying in the east and playing the 'skin's twice a year is going to be fun to watch. This year's going to suck for the Redskin's QB's.

This is a great pickup for the Giants and yes it does put them closer to a Super Bowl shot.

Didn't i see i-ants get smoked in the playoffs. Did they get a new qb i didn't hear about? The road to the super bowl goes through chicago. Bet on it.

whodat:"The road to the super bowl goes through chicago. Bet on it." You cannot be serious. Honestly, Chicago? What are you thinking? This as a PACKERS fan is disappointing. I thought Green Bay was in the hunt for LaVar, but I guess they really weren't. If GB had signed Lavar, and drafted Mario Williams, that would had been two great additions. Now they will probably go with A.J. Hawk. They could had gotten a really good LB and a good DE with great potential, but now they will only get a solid LB.

Through Chicago?

Wow- last time I checked the Bears had Grossman at QB- that will keep them from winning a superbowl in the next decade.

This as a PACKERS fan is disappointing. A Packers/Yankees/Lakers/Red Wings/Miami football/Duke basketball fan, no less.

if Chicago scored 17 points they had a great day. That won't get it done.

arizona will be more of a threat than the giants seahawks are the best TEAM in the nfl

The Giants will be good, but...they still have no chance of making it to the super bowl as long as the seahawks are around. The Seahawks make one Super Bowl trip and you've got them as a lock over the NFC? I think the conference is wide open going into 2006.

If Arrington chafed under Joe Gibbs in Washington, how do you think his defensive free-lancing is going to work for Tom Coughlin in New York? Don't get too giddy just yet, Giants fans. LaVar doesn't respond well to authority, and Coughlin (and defensive coordinator Tim Lewis, for that matter) doesn't respond well to guys who don't respond well to authority. Tremendous upside for the Giants' defense, yes, but only if LaVar plays within the framework of the defense and doesn't give up significant chunks of yardage because he's playing in the wrong place, as he often did in D.C.

I think the conference is wide open going into 2006. I agree a lot with that assesment, especially in the NFC North. No team in the NFC North has a definite proven quarterback as of right now (Brett Farve just make a decision already) although I think both the Bears and Lions have potential at the posistion.

2006 is different shit i would say pats, colt, falcons but theres allot of changes i wouldnt be surprise if dolphins have more wins this yr than last yr but i know they not a superbowl contender yet well who knows the bengals kicked ass last season we just have to wait the giant have couple more yrs to become a superbowl contender

the seahawks are a lock. weak schedule plus great team equals home field advantage.

The Giants aren't going to make the super bowl with the Seahawks around. Arrington won't change that.

Still wondering what might have happened if Carson Palmer hadn't have gotten hurt. I think the Bengals are real. /Seahawks won't win the Superbowl. C'mon... //Giants are gonna be better.

Let's hope the Bengals are real. Should be interesting, the NFC north is really up for grabs, and this might just shift the balance of power in that division.

LostInDaJungle, unless I misread your comment, you seemed to have been implying that the signing of Arrington will have a huge impact on the North Division. That will not happen. While it may happen in the east division (obviously), it won't happen in the North since to them it is just a different East Division team with the really good linebacker. What impacts the North division will be the games played between the four teams, and who can step up and be the hero.

I'm a real G-MEN fan I even have season tix. In order to win a super bowl you need a great quarterback, a winner something ELi is not. You just look at his stats and say he good and getting better and going to be better than his brother. I watch and Its painful a lot of passes are poorly thrown and nearly picked but you don't see that all you see is the fact that his completion percentage went down two or three seal no big deal.
