It's always kinda touch and go somewhere in the CFL. Can't say I'm super surprised.
ahh there was 2 roughrider franchises in the cfl...the glibs did move it,then killed it,then a year an a half ago bought the rights to a team in ottawa..the fans picked the name renegades..the glib's lose money, because lonie is running the team,so daddy tells lonie, you can't manage nuthin, let alone, get laid...shuts down the team, skips out of town, leaving the cfl with a debt ridden franchise..pisses off the fans, and the media, who paid for broadcasting rights, plus the other owners of the cfl.. who now have to pay the debts....lovely lil soap opera, don't ya think?
It's especially bad this time around because the re-establishment of the Rough Riders, er, Renegades, was hoped to be the beginning of a new period of stability that I think people thought would end up establishing at least one more team in Quebec City and possibly two, adding Halifax to the mix. The province of Quebec has become football mad in the past 5 years since the Als came back and with the wild popularity of CIAU football at Laval and at the U of Montreal. As usual, though, the CFL made the quick decision not the good decision based on what they hoped might happen, not what should have been predicted.
