The Portland Trailblazers are one Mark Cuban away from a championship. We admit down here in the shade of Dallas that Cuban bought the worst franchise in the NBA and it looks like today that they may be the best. I have followed the Pistons since they drove their stuff a little further north from Ft. Wayne, Indiana but do believe the depth that Mark Cuban's checkbook has provided Dallas is more than enough if, of course, the depth of San Antonio isn't too much. Oh well, I have followed the Spurs since they trashed the Dallas Chapparals stuff and drove down to The Alamo and started playing basketball.
And Sacramento quietly shed some contract, (Brian Skinner, 10 million), while picking up a rookie small forward, (Sergei Monia, 2 million) and a veteran center, (Vitaly Potapenko, 3 million). A nice payroll reduction move by Petrie to avoid the luxury tax that was looming.
NBA and it looks like today that they may be the best. Not yet they aren't! They first have to get pass the Spurs in the west. The regular season is just to see who gets home court advantage, the real basketball starts in the playoffs! This may be their season to do that, but then they still have to beat the Pistons in a 7 game series. Of course this is all hypothetical!
That means that the Blazers are at least 4 superstars away from a championship. I don't know if they are four superstars away from a championship, but I do know that they are three good players away from being a respectable NBA franchise again. Maybe using some of those lottery picks a little more wisely would be a good start.
I agree with bigrob! Great analysis!
The Blazers need to get better. They need to find a player that knows how to win. They have some talent, it's just not harnessed well. They need a veteran that can give you versatility on both ends of the court. And maybe some leadership. They need a Robert Horry, a Donyell Marshall, hell Devean George would prolly make this team better. It wouldn't hurt to decide on a point guard either. Jack, Blake, Telfair, and Dixon are all the exact same size, but different players. Choose one or two and trade the others for a shooter or something.
Paul Allen losing money ? Rich people lose money differently than normal people. Lets say last year paul allen made 100 million dollars. but this year only made 98 million dollars. He will tell you He's losing money.
when a geek runs anything but a geek business you get decisions that are more than a little bit off center.
i do though wish paul allen was my uncle
