CRW is a subset of skydivers, We call them CrewDogs in the sport. They are considered a little out there and proud of it. Kind of like kickers in football. It's very dangerous and demands patience and discipline to achieve even a much smaller formation let alone an 85 member World Record. The main danger is called a wrap. The formation "funnels" (breakup) unexpectedly for many reasons and you get totally wrapped up in someones canopy like a Birthday Present. Then you find yourself falling rapidly towards the dirt (Gravity Sucks) unanble to disentangle yourself in order to deploy your emergency canopy. They carry special knives called "Hook Knives" kind of look like carpet knives in order to cut yourself out of the wrap. Anyway, they have my respect, I've done some much, much smaller formation CRW but it's really not my thing. I prefer regular Skydiving, much safer! :) Click on the photo-video link at the bottom of the article page to see some amazing photos of this World Record. Enjoy
That is really cool. I can't even conceive of jumping out of a plane on purpose, much less into the middle of such a large group where one wrong move can get me tangled with five or ten other folks!
Wow, that's awesome. Thanks dad.
Especially knowing that their were a few jumpers on the load, who albeit very skilled, had never been on anything as large as a 25-way. Snicker.
