Serena was sick. She looked really ill and they kept saying she shouldn't have been playing. I don't think this is the end of her.
I think it's a combination of two things: the competition got better, and Serena got less single-minded about her tennis. Together, this meant that things went very quickly from a situation where no one could beat her, to one where she had a lot of competitors who could beat her. To beat the field now, she really would have to go back to being a very single-minded player -- and, IMO, seriously consider a new coach. There's a few interesting matchups in the women's round of 16, BTW. Having defeated Serena, Craybas now gets to play Venus (I'd wear a helmet, myself); Davenport plays Clijsters; and Myskina plays Dementieva.
Yeah. Venus is going to kill her, just to teach her a lesson, even if it screws her up for the next round. (I always thought Venus would be the one to quit the game because she was into too many other things. Go figure.) She might win out, but it's hard to go against Davenport the way she's playing.

I was watching the matches, clicking on Shot Tracker as soon as each point was played, and saying, "Yes! That's what happened! And then she hit it there! Oooh!" Dallas: Big sister took care of Jill Dropped her like third period French, she did. And then took care of Mary Pierce in the quarters, looking better than I've seen her play in some time. I'm really looking forward to the semis, when I'm putting my money on Venus to beat the dawg out of Sharapova (revenge for lil sis part 2).
