The 2003 World Junior Championship is down to four teams. The Fins smoked the Slovaks (behind the play of Atlanta's Kari Lehtonen) and will face the as yet unstoppable Russians in the semifinals. Team USA eked out a 4-3 win against the Czechs and will face Canada. Both games take place today. In other news, USA!USA!USA!

And yeah, I realize that even if we somehow manage to beat the Canadians, there's no way we'll beat the Russians. The chant feels good, though.

Predictions: Canada 5 USA 2 Russia 3 Finland 1 Final: Canada 4 Russia 3

All out plea for help: Does anyone have any idea where I can find TV coverage info for the semis and finals? I live in the NYC area and have every channel (including Sports In Demand Hockey package) known to man. Any and all help would be appreciated. As for the games. I'd love to say the USA could pull out a win, but I don't see it happening. They'll go down fighting to the Northerners, who will win it all over those dirty commi Russian bastards. Basically, what Grum said.

Sadly, even I don't think the US has a much of a shot against Canada. A poll on the site I linked to above has 86% of the voters picking Canada to win that one. Russia will beat Canada 5-3 (empty-net goal). I'll be rooting for the Upper Mexicans, though. And the YES Network appears to have coverage of the WJC at midnight tonight so set your VCR or Tivo or whatever.

It's going to be on the Canadian station TSN, if you pick that up on a dish. Add in the fact that the Leaf/Devils game and the BCS Championship game is on tonight as well, it's going to be burning out my remote control with all the channel changing.

Grum, we live in paradise don't we? Leafs/Devs 7:30 Ohio/Miami 8:30 WJC Semi 12:00 (replay) Okay, I live in New Jersey, but it's really, really close.

Russia has already defeated Finland 4-1 (close there with the score prediction, grum.) I like how the American coach is picking Canada to win 9-0. I know it was tongue-in-cheek, but I can't argue with that kind of score.

Oops...got it wrong. It was Canada 3 USA 2. Oh Canada!

Sorry..just realized that some people won't be watching the game until later. I hope nobody that doesn't want to know the score would actually look at a comment page ABOUT the event, but if someone did and had the surprise ruined, I apologize now. [voice=Homer] Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip. [/voice]

Cripes, Canada, way to give me a heart attack. Woop!

Again!
